£8.99/mo ($12.16)
Visit →London · Torch enhanced · Workshop installer
£8.87/mo ($12.00)
Visit →Quick verdict: LOW.MS is our best all-round Space Engineers host because the £7.98 ($10.80) starting package already includes the 10GB RAM Keen recommends, London is available, and its current Torch and backup workflow is unusually well documented. Kinetic is our favourite hardware-value alternative with a 10GB tier at £7.38 ($9.99) and Ryzen 9950X-class London nodes. GTX Gaming ranks third as Keen’s official PC host, with excellent Torch, Workshop and crossplay support, although its £8.99 ($12.16) base package starts at 8GB and we would upgrade that for a serious world.
The mistake with Space Engineers hosting is treating it like a normal ten-player survival game. Your server is constantly simulating grids, rotors, pistons, thrusters, collisions, voxel changes, scripts and floating objects. A world can feel perfect with four players and then slow down badly after those same four players build a refinery complex, three drill ships and a scripted logistics network.
That is why our ranking gives more weight to high-clock CPU options, a sensible RAM baseline, Torch access, backups and file-level control than to the lowest possible sticker price. We still optimise the recommendations for UK players through London availability and GBP-first pricing, but the H1 and core comparison stay broad enough to target the main searches for best Space Engineers hosting.
How we tested and ranked Space Engineers hosting
We use Keen’s own dedicated-server requirements as the baseline, then compare the current hosting offer rather than blindly reusing an old provider score. Keen lists 6GB RAM and a 3.2GHz CPU as minimum, but recommends 10GB RAM and a 4.5GHz CPU with three logical cores. For this page, the recommended figure is the more useful comparison point.
Where RAM is sold in tiers, we compare the first package that reaches roughly 10GB rather than rewarding a 4GB teaser price.
We favour high-clock modern CPUs, NVMe storage and enough RAM to keep a growing world from hitting resource limits early.
Workshop mods, Torch, FTP or SFTP, backups and recovery tools are core criteria because active SE servers need real administration.
London gets extra credit for UK groups. We also look at refund windows and whether help is available when an update or plugin breaks.
What we do not fake
We do not publish made-up SimSpeed, TPS or ping benchmarks for instances we have not measured. When a CPU, RAM figure, support response claim or location comes from a provider, we treat it as a verified specification or provider claim. When we describe our own experience with a panel, backup flow or support interaction, we make that distinction clear.
Best Space Engineers server hosting: all 9 providers reviewed
Every provider in our comparison table gets a real review below. No table-only filler entries.
LOW.MS
LOW.MS takes our top spot because its entry package lines up unusually neatly with what Keen itself recommends for a Space Engineers dedicated server. The public billing page includes 10GB of RAM at $10.80 per month, which is exactly Keen’s recommended memory figure rather than a smaller teaser tier that needs an immediate upgrade. London is available, NVMe storage is standard, and the current Space Engineers product has a 5-day refund window.
The bigger reason we prefer it for this game is the admin workflow. LOW.MS has current Space Engineers documentation for world recovery, updates, Workshop mods and Torch, and Torch can be enabled through the Mod Manager instead of being treated as an unsupported custom install. In our experience with the LOW.MS platform, its backup and restore tooling is one of its strongest features. That combination matters on a long-running engineering world where a bad plugin, broken Workshop dependency or update mismatch can cost far more time than the monthly fee.
- ✓ 10GB entry allocation matches Keen’s recommended RAM
- ✓ London location available
- ✓ Current Torch and Space Engineers-specific support material
- ✓ Cloud backups, free migration and 5-day refund
- ✗ Control panel is still TCAdmin while the replacement panel rolls out
- ✗ Exact CPU model can vary by node rather than being guaranteed on the product page
Best for: Owners who want a serious PC server with good recovery tools, London availability and an easy path into Torch.
Kinetic Hosting
Kinetic is the value pick if you care most about the machine underneath the server. We use its 10GB performance tier for this comparison, not the cheaper 4GB or 8GB plans, because 10GB is the official recommended RAM target from Keen. At $9.99 per month it still comes out slightly cheaper than LOW.MS, and Kinetic’s London performance location lists Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 9950X and EPYC 4564P systems with DDR5 and NVMe.
That hardware is exactly the kind of specification we want to see for a physics-heavy Space Engineers world. Kinetic also gives you five backup slots, full file access, server splitting and a 7-day refund window. We keep it just behind LOW.MS because the latter has a more Space Engineers-specific Torch workflow and documentation. If raw hardware value is your priority and you are comfortable handling more of the admin side yourself, Kinetic is arguably the most attractive deal on the page.
- ✓ 10GB plan is cheaper than most comparable offers
- ✓ London performance nodes include high-clock Ryzen 7950X and 9950X systems
- ✓ DDR5, NVMe, backups and full file access
- ✓ 7-day no-questions refund
- ✗ The cheapest advertised tiers are below Keen’s recommended RAM
- ✗ Torch support is less front-and-centre than on LOW.MS, GTX or Host Havoc
Best for: Performance-focused groups that want a high-clock London node without paying premium pricing.
GTX Gaming
GTX Gaming has one advantage nobody else in this comparison can copy: Keen Software House lists it as the official dedicated server host for the PC version of Space Engineers. Its current basic package starts at £8.99 with 10 player slots, 8GB RAM and 100GB NVMe storage, and the product page explicitly supports Torch, Steam Workshop and PC, Xbox and PlayStation crossplay.
There is one important catch in the starting price. Keen recommends 10GB RAM for a dedicated server, while GTX starts at 8GB. GTX lets you upgrade RAM, CPU priority, storage and slots, but the public product page does not expose one simple 10GB-equivalent total before checkout. We therefore treat £8.99 as the honest starting price, not as proof that an 8GB configuration is ideal for a busy world. It ranks third because the official relationship and mature tooling are excellent, but Kinetic and LOW.MS make the recommended resource target easier to price upfront.
- ✓ Official Space Engineers PC server host
- ✓ Torch and Steam Workshop support built into the product
- ✓ Crossplay support and mature Space Engineers knowledgebase
- ✓ Native GBP pricing and configurable resources
- ✗ 8GB base RAM is below Keen’s 10GB recommended figure
- ✗ A more realistic upgraded configuration costs more than the headline price
Best for: Players who value the official Keen relationship, crossplay support and a very mature Space Engineers-specific platform.
Host Havoc
Host Havoc is one of the easiest recommendations for an established community that expects to use Workshop mods and Torch. Its Space Engineers product is explicitly enhanced with Torch and Steam Workshop integration, includes London, full FTP access, offsite backups and restores, and runs on Host Havoc-owned Xeon or Ryzen hardware with NVMe storage.
The reason it sits fourth is not capability, it is sizing. The current order page starts at 15 slots for $12 per month. That is still a fair price, but it means a private four-player group cannot buy a smaller package just to save money. Host Havoc also advertises an average ticket response under ten minutes. We would value that more highly on Space Engineers than on a simpler survival game because a broken Torch plugin or corrupt Workshop load order is exactly the kind of problem where knowledgeable support can save an evening.
- ✓ London server location
- ✓ Torch and one-click Steam Workshop integration
- ✓ Full FTP plus offsite backups and restores
- ✓ Provider advertises sub-10-minute average ticket response
- ✗ 15-slot minimum is overkill for small friend groups
- ✗ You pay for more slot capacity than many private worlds need
Best for: Larger or heavily modded communities that want strong support and polished Workshop management.
Gaming Deluxe
Gaming Deluxe is the cleanest local-company option in the group. It starts at £8.99 per month, bills natively in pounds, offers London, and its current Space Engineers page advertises 5.0GHz+ Intel or AMD CPUs, NVMe storage and DDR5 memory. It also explicitly supports Torch, Steam Workshop mods, custom world uploads and full FTP access.
The feature that stood out to us is the backup policy. Seven days of automatic offsite backups are included rather than being sold as a premium add-on. For a large engineering save, that is genuinely useful insurance. We rank Gaming Deluxe below the top four because the public page gives less detail about the exact starting allocation than Kinetic, LOW.MS or GTX, but the overall combination of London, UK billing, modern hardware and Torch compatibility is very well suited to British communities.
- ✓ UK-based company with native GBP billing
- ✓ London location and 5.0GHz+ Intel or AMD hardware
- ✓ Torch compatibility, mod manager and full FTP
- ✓ Seven days of automatic offsite backups
- ✗ Public starting configuration exposes less resource detail than our top picks
- ✗ Fewer Space Engineers-specific admin guides surfaced than GTX or LOW.MS
Best for: UK communities that want London hosting, GBP invoicing and a British provider without giving up Torch or mod support.
Nitrado
Nitrado is Keen’s official server host for the Xbox version of Space Engineers, and it is the easiest pick here to understand if crossplay and console support matter more to you than Torch. The current UK order page shows 10 slots for £11.59 per 30 days, supports crossplay, and offers London alongside Frankfurt and a global location network.
Its strength is convenience rather than deep PC tinkering. You can scale from 4 to 200 slots, use subscription or prepaid billing, and switch games through the same platform. For a console-heavy group that is a better fit than paying for a PC-first host and then working around crossplay requirements. We rank it below the PC specialists because Space Engineers power users tend to care about Torch, file-level control and simulation troubleshooting more than Nitrado’s broad multi-game convenience.
- ✓ Official Space Engineers Xbox server host
- ✓ London location and native GBP pricing
- ✓ Crossplay support
- ✓ Flexible 4 to 200 slot configuration
- ✗ Less compelling for Torch-heavy PC communities
- ✗ £11.59 costs more than several strong PC-first alternatives
Best for: Xbox, PlayStation and mixed-platform groups that want an official crossplay-focused host with a London option.
Survival Servers
Survival Servers is worth keeping in the list because its Space Engineers product is unusually explicit about Torch. The regular 10-slot package is $10 per month, with a current first-month promotion below that, and there is also a three-day trial. Standard servers use SSD and DDR4, while the premium tier moves to NVMe, DDR5 and an overclocked CPU.
The trade-off for UK buyers is location. The current European choices are Germany and France rather than London. That is not a deal breaker for Space Engineers, but it gives the UK-node providers above an advantage for British groups. We also deliberately do not link its old Gameserverhosting.co.uk review URL here because our crawl shows that page now redirects to the generic reviews index. Until that review is rebuilt, the affiliate visit route is the cleaner CTA.
- ✓ Explicit Torch support and full file control
- ✓ Regular 10-slot price is competitive
- ✓ Three-day trial available
- ✓ Premium tier adds overclocked CPU, DDR5 and NVMe
- ✗ No current London location
- ✗ Old internal Survival Servers review is retired, so there is no live GSH review to link
Best for: Experienced admins who specifically want Torch support and are happy with a nearby continental European node.
G-Portal
G-Portal is the simplest option if you want to test a Space Engineers server without thinking about hardware tiers. Its current 10-slot monthly package is $15.59, but it also sells a three-day server from $6.23. The web panel exposes config editing, the server is advertised as available within minutes, and unlimited mod storage is included.
We rank it lower because the current Space Engineers order page lists Central Europe rather than a London node, and it does not expose the kind of CPU or RAM detail we want for a physics-heavy game. It is easy to buy and easy to understand, but not the host we would choose for a giant scripted community where we are actively trying to protect SimSpeed. For a weekend experiment or a small vanilla world, that simplicity can still be an advantage.
- ✓ Three-day purchase option for short tests
- ✓ Simple web configuration
- ✓ Unlimited mod storage
- ✓ Fast deployment
- ✗ No London option shown on the current Space Engineers page
- ✗ Hardware and memory allocation are less transparent than our top picks
Best for: Players who want a low-friction short-term server and do not need advanced Torch administration.
Shockbyte
Shockbyte has a polished Space Engineers product with instant setup, automatic updates and backups, full file access, mod support and a 72-hour self-serve refund. The important editorial choice is which tier to compare. Its $16.99 and $21.99 plans include 6GB and 8GB RAM respectively, both below Keen’s official 10GB recommended dedicated-server figure.
That is why our comparison uses the 12GB Architect plan at $29.99 per month. It is the first public tier that clears the official recommendation rather than asking you to treat an under-specced headline price as equivalent. Shockbyte becomes expensive on that basis, which pushes it to ninth. The service itself is beginner-friendly, but the current RAM ladder is hard to justify against Kinetic or LOW.MS for this specific game.
- ✓ 12GB tier clears the official recommended RAM target
- ✓ Automatic backups and updates
- ✓ Full file access and mod support
- ✓ 72-hour self-serve refund
- ✗ 6GB and 8GB cheaper tiers sit below Keen’s 10GB recommendation
- ✗ The 12GB tier is substantially more expensive than our top choices
Best for: Beginners who value a polished managed experience more than getting the best price-to-performance ratio.
Space Engineers hosting providers compared
GBP is always shown first and USD is shown in brackets. The table uses a realistic plan rather than automatically taking the cheapest advertised tier. For RAM-priced hosts, 10GB is our target because that is Keen’s official recommended dedicated-server memory figure.

Prices checked against current provider pages in August 2026. Currency conversion uses 18 August 2026 rate: $1 = £0.739165. Promotions can change. GTX Gaming’s £8.99 starting package includes 8GB RAM, so a 10GB+ configuration will cost more. Survival Servers is shown at its regular $10 monthly price rather than its temporary first-month discount.
Why SimSpeed matters more than slot count
Space Engineers exposes simulation speed in its performance statistics and Keen’s own Remote Client can monitor simulation speed on a dedicated server. A healthy world aims to stay around 1.0. When simulation speed drops, the world itself starts running slower even if a player’s frame rate still looks fine. That is why a server with 40 advertised slots can still feel worse than a well-managed 10-player server.
The practical performance killers are usually world complexity rather than player count alone: too many active grids, physics-heavy subgrids, scripts, floating objects, high block limits and badly behaved mods. A fast host gives you more headroom, but good server rules still matter. No provider can make an unlimited physics sandbox truly unlimited.
How much CPU and RAM does a Space Engineers server need?
Keen’s official minimum is 3.2GHz, three logical cores and 6GB RAM. Its recommended specification is 4.5GHz, three logical cores and 10GB RAM. We would use the recommended figure as the buying baseline in 2026, then add headroom for mods, scripts and large persistent worlds.
| World type | Typical use | RAM target | What we prioritise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small vanilla world | 2 to 4 players | 8 to 10GB | Modern CPU, backups, nearby node |
| Normal persistent server | 4 to 10 players | 10 to 12GB | 4.5GHz+ class CPU, NVMe, strong admin tools |
| Modded / scripted world | 6 to 16 players | 12 to 16GB+ | High single-thread performance, Torch, backups |
| Large community | 16+ or huge grids | 16GB+ | Premium CPU allocation, strict PCU/block rules, profiling |
Torch, Workshop mods and backups
Torch is a community wrapper around the Space Engineers dedicated server. It adds stronger administration, a plugin ecosystem and tools that serious community servers often rely on. We do not treat it as mandatory for a tiny private vanilla world, but it becomes increasingly valuable once you are managing scripts, large grids, cleanup rules or a public community.
This is one reason LOW.MS, GTX Gaming and Host Havoc score well. LOW.MS currently installs Torch through its Mod Manager, GTX has a dedicated Torch support path and knowledgebase, and Host Havoc markets its Space Engineers service as Torch-enhanced with Workshop collection support. Gaming Deluxe and Survival Servers also explicitly support Torch.
Back up before game updates and plugin changes
Space Engineers 1.210 “Prosperity” landed on 27 July 2026. Torch updated quickly for that release, but third-party plugins can follow their own schedules. Our rule is simple: take a fresh backup, update the game, verify Torch, then bring plugins back one at a time if anything behaves strangely.
Workshop mods are also tied to the world, not just downloaded into a folder. A host with proper file access and restore points is much easier to recover when a removed dependency or outdated mod stops the world loading.
Can you host Space Engineers yourself?
Yes. Space Engineers Dedicated Server is free to run, and Keen documents installation through Steam or SteamCMD. The dedicated server requires Windows, .NET 4.8 or higher and the relevant Visual C++ redistributables. If you expose it publicly, Keen recommends a static IP.
Default protocol: UDP
Default listen port: 27016
Recommended RAM: 10GB
Recommended CPU: 4.5GHz, 3 logical cores
For a private group with a spare Windows PC, self-hosting can be perfectly sensible. Renting becomes more attractive when you want the world online 24/7 without your gaming PC running, automatic backups, a London data centre, easier Workshop management and someone else dealing with network or hardware failures.

Can you rent a Space Engineers 2 dedicated server yet?
No, not for actual multiplayer dedicated hosting as of 18 August 2026. Keen’s current roadmap targets the first Space Engineers 2 cooperative multiplayer in VS4 for November or December 2026. That first version is planned as four-player co-op with player hosting only. Keen explicitly says dedicated servers will come later.
That matters because some hosting companies already have Space Engineers 2 product or landing pages. We would treat those as placeholders, pre-launch positioning or future hosting products, not evidence that you can run an official SE2 dedicated multiplayer server today. If you want persistent multiplayer now, Space Engineers 1 is still the game this comparison is about.
