Best Factorio Server Hosting UK (Nov 2026)
A Factorio server is cheap to start and expensive to grow: a fresh world idles on 2GB, but a Space Age megabase hundreds of hours in leans on CPU speed, memory and good backups. We compared 44 hosts that sell a Factorio server today on regular monthly price, CPU, UK locations, backups and how easily each one lets you control versions and mods.

How we compared Factorio server hosts
We compared each host’s live Factorio product on what keeps a factory at 60 UPS and safe over months of play: CPU speed, enough memory for the save, a UK or nearby European location, backups before version changes, version and mod control, refund terms and the regular price. Prices come from each host’s public plan page, converted at £1 = $1.33. Our full process is on how we compare.
The 44 best Factorio server hosts, reviewed
Each review covers the plan that suits a Factorio group, what it costs and the detail that decides whether it fits your factory.
Indifferent Broccoli
Indifferent Broccoli prices Factorio by player count and leaves the memory uncapped under a fair-use policy. The 1-player plan is £4.50/mo ($5.99) a month and six players cost £9.77/mo ($12.99), with bigger tiers up to £18.79/mo ($24.99) for large groups.
That suits a factory that keeps growing: more surfaces, more trains and a heavier Space Age save never push you into a bigger RAM tier. A two-day free trial without a card lets you load your real save and watch the UPS before you pay, and a seven-day refund follows. Its locations are in mainland Europe.
Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full Indifferent Broccoli review.
- No RAM tier to outgrow
- 2-day free trial
- Full file access

LOW.MS
LOW.MS hosts Factorio in London with 10GB of memory included and slot-based pricing from £6.59/mo ($8.76). Its panel switches between the stable and experimental branches, which is the safest way to try a new version on a copy of your factory before moving the real one across.
Automatic cloud backups, downloadable archives and one-click restores cover the moment a mod and a version change disagree. A five-day money-back guarantee applies.
Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full LOW.MS review.

Host Havoc
Host Havoc’s Factorio server starts at £7.52/mo ($10.00) a month for ten slots in London and scales to 150 slots. Automated save backups go offsite, so you can restore a factory even if something goes wrong on the server itself.
It runs on hardware it owns, includes DDoS protection and 24/7 support, and gives full FTP access for mod packs and map files. Its guides make the point that Factorio’s simulation is single-thread bound, which is why it puts the CPU ahead of extra memory.
Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full Host Havoc review.

What Factorio 2.1 means for your server
Factorio 2.1 went stable on 23 October 2026, and Wube has described it as the last major update before the game moves into long-term maintenance. It is a large bundle of quality-of-life changes rather than new planets, and it adds native ARM64 Linux builds of the headless server.
Saves from 2.0 load in 2.1, but some changes, such as the circuit input/output split, can break existing designs, and an upgraded save cannot go back to 2.0. Not every mod has caught up yet. Copy your save, try 2.1 on the copy and only then move the real factory. LOW.MS makes that easy with branch switching, and Host Havoc and Kinetic Hosting let you keep several restore points.
UPS matters more than player slots
Factorio aims for 60 updates per second. When the server cannot finish a tick in time, UPS drops and the whole factory slows down, so a four-player megabase can be harder to run than a 30-player early game:
| UPS | What it means |
|---|---|
| 60 | Full speed; more hardware will not help |
| 45–59 | Approaching the limit; faster CPU or optimisation helps |
| Below ~45 | Clear slowdown; upgrade CPU or optimise the factory |
Parts of the engine use extra threads, but the deterministic simulation still depends heavily on single-core speed and memory latency. That is why a host with Ryzen 7950X or 9950X cores, such as Kinetic Hosting or LOW.MS, can beat a bigger but slower plan.
How much RAM does a Factorio server need?
| Factory | Good starting RAM | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh vanilla world | 2–3GB | RAM is rarely the limit |
| Growing Space Age world | 3–4GB | Extra surfaces add memory |
| Large or lightly modded | 4–6GB | CPU speed starts to matter more |
| Heavy mod pack | 6–8GB+ | Watch real RAM and UPS |
| Megabase | 8GB+ as needed | CPU and memory latency limit UPS |
More memory does not raise UPS once the save fits. Start small, watch the real usage and upgrade when the factory, not a sales page, tells you to. Our hardware requirements guide explains the balance between CPU, RAM and storage.
Players and server need matching versions and mods
Factorio multiplayer is deterministic, so the server and every player need the same game version and the same set of gameplay mods. Before you change anything, take a host-side backup and download a copy yourself, then test with the real client mod list before treating the change as permanent.
GTX Gaming uploads mods straight from the Mod Portal, GGServers has a mod installer, and LogicServers and Host Havoc give full file access for overhaul packs.

Self-hosting vs renting a Factorio server
Factorio is one of the easiest games to self-host. The headless server is a free download from Wube rather than SteamCMD, and a spare PC or small VPS runs a modest factory well. The catch is everything around it.
| Self-host | Rented server | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free server software; you pay for power or a VPS | From £0.75/mo ($1.00) |
| Updates | Match every player’s version yourself | Handled or one click |
| Network | Forward UDP port 34197 | Opened for you |
| Uptime | Only while your machine is on | Online 24/7 |
| Backups | Your own copies | Automatic on most hosts |
Renting makes sense once the factory should run while you sleep, or once your group plays at different times. Our self-hosting guide and VPS hosting explainer cover the trade-offs.

Factorio server hosting FAQ
What is the best Factorio server host in the UK?
Indifferent Broccoli is our #1, with uncapped RAM, a two-day free trial and plans from £4.50/mo ($5.99). Our Indifferent Broccoli review covers it in depth.
How much RAM does a Factorio server need?
2–3GB for a fresh vanilla world, 3–4GB for a growing Space Age save and 6–8GB or more for heavy mod packs.
Does more RAM improve UPS?
No. Once the save fits in memory, UPS depends on CPU speed and memory latency, not more gigabytes.
Should I update my server to Factorio 2.1?
Only after testing. 2.0 saves load in 2.1, but some designs can break and an upgraded save cannot be downgraded. Back up first and check your mods.
Which port does a Factorio server use?
UDP 34197 by default. Hosts open it for you; on your own machine you need to forward it.
Can I run a Factorio server for free?
Yes. The headless server is a free download, and 2.1 adds native ARM64 Linux builds. You handle updates, backups and uptime yourself.
Which Factorio hosts have UK servers?
23 of the 44 hosts here show a London or UK location, including LOW.MS, Host Havoc and GTX Gaming.
What is the cheapest Factorio server hosting?
Spill Hosting starts at £0.75/mo ($1.00) for 1GB, and AleForge has 2GB in London for £1.50/mo ($1.99). See our cheap game server hosting guide.
Can I try a Factorio server for free?
Indifferent Broccoli has a two-day free trial without a card, and Nodecraft a 24-hour trial.
Do all players need the same mods?
Yes. Factorio multiplayer is deterministic, so everyone needs the same game version and gameplay mods as the server.
Can I upload my existing factory?
Yes. Upload the save zip through the host’s file manager or FTP and select it as the active save.
