How much RAM does a Vintage Story server need?
The server needs about 1GB plus 300MB per connected player, and four CPU threads. Mods and exploration push that up:

Keeping your server on the right version
The current stable branch is 1.22, with v1.22.7 released on 16 August 2026. The July safety patches (v1.22.4 to v1.22.6) fixed griefing and duplication exploits and added automatic bans for block-break abuse, so they matter on any public server.
Server and players must run the same version, and mods often lag a major update by a few weeks. Hosts with a version picker, such as GTX Gaming and LOW.MS, let you stay on the last version your modpack supports. Our server troubleshooting guide covers version-mismatch errors.
Mods on a hosted Vintage Story server
Vintage Story mods are zip files placed in the server’s Mods folder; players download matching mods automatically when they join. That makes full file access and one-click ModDB installs the most useful panel features.
