Best Garry’s Mod Server Hosting in 2026

Garry’s Mod hosting is not just a RAM contest. DarkRP, TTT, Prop Hunt and custom communities live or die on single-thread CPU performance, Workshop/FastDL delivery, Lua quality, databases, backups and how quickly new players can join. We re-researched the market from scratch and removed years-old pricing from the existing page.

Top choices

The four GMod hosts we would shortlist first

The top four combine UK routing with actual GMod administration value. A giant generic RAM number is not enough, and a teaser/dev-server price does not count as a normal production plan.

How we compared

What actually matters on a Garry’s Mod server

GMod is old, incredibly extensible and capable of becoming far more demanding than the base Sandbox game. We rank the hosting layer around the community you are building, not only the process that launches on day one.

Single-thread performance

Lua hooks, physics, entities and game logic can make CPU performance the bottleneck before RAM. Modern high-clock hardware and low overselling matter.

Workshop + FastDL

WorkshopDL is fastest for Workshop content. FastDL remains useful for custom non-Workshop assets. A host that handles both cleanly saves admin time.

Databases and files

DarkRP, Pointshop and persistent systems often use MySQL. FTP/SFTP, config access and easy migrations are real community features.

Updates and backups

Facepunch’s April 2026 update made major networking changes and warned that binary modules could break. Branch testing and fast rollback are valuable.

The April 2026 update matters for hosts: Facepunch changed the networking layer to improve transfer speed and bandwidth use, moved several systems to double-precision time and warned server owners beforehand that under-the-hood changes could break binary modules. A host with prerelease branches and easy backups is useful for more than marketing.
Workshop is not the same as FastDL: Facepunch currently describes WorkshopDL as the fastest/easiest method for Workshop content, while FastDL serves custom files from a separate HTTP server. Old Source ServerDL is limited to around 64kb/s and is considered obsolete. We do not give hosts extra credit for shouting “FastDL” if their Workshop workflow is poor.
Physgun price warning: its public page says “starting at $5.87”, but that is an isolated Dev Server. The normal Micro production server is $9.87 for 2GB, while the 4GB Starter is $19.87. Our table uses the real Micro server.

1LOW.MS logo

LOW.MS

Best overall
£3.99/mo$5.40 · 10GB allowance · up to 64 slots
10GB RAM allowance · NVMeLondon · Nuremberg · Helsinki · Warsaw

LOW.MS is the strongest current Garry's Mod package we found. Its live API reports a $5.40 minimum price, while the billing catalogue confirms a 10GB memory allowance, mod support, free migration and configurations up to 64 slots. London is available alongside several nearby European regions.

The game-specific panel is unusually complete: automatic cloud backups with up to 20 restore points, one-click restore and download, configuration controls and native switching between public, dev, prerelease and x86-64 branches. That branch support matters after large Facepunch updates, because server owners can test addon and binary-module compatibility before moving production.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We checked the live LOW.MS public API minPrice, billing catalogue, current GMod landing page, 10GB allowance, London location, backup system, branch switching and refund terms.

What it taught us: LOW.MS wins on both price and operational tooling. At $5.40 it is cheaper than many 2GB-4GB competitors while giving enough memory that most communities can focus on addon quality and CPU performance instead of immediate RAM upgrades.

Pros
  • ✓ 10GB allowance for $5.40
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ Up to 20 cloud backups
  • ✓ Excellent branch/update controls
  • ✓ Five-day refund
Cons
  • ✗ API reports slot pricing while exact slot count at the minimum price is not exposed in the API
  • ✗ Native GBP API routing is still unresolved, so our GBP value is an approximate conversion

EUGameHost

Best London community bundle
£4.00/mo20 players · 16GB DDR4
16GB RAM · high-clock CPU · NVMe 4.0London · Dallas

EUGameHost is almost absurdly competitive on paper. Its Starter plan costs £4 per month for up to 20 players and 16GB DDR4, with London hosting, NVMe 4.0, a 10Gbps network and high-clock CPU positioning. A free MySQL database is included, which is genuinely useful for DarkRP economies, Pointshop data and other persistent community systems.

The panel also includes a one-click Steam Workshop installer and full FTP/SFTP. Larger plans scale to 50 players with 24GB and 100 players with 32GB. Those memory amounts are far beyond what many GMod servers need, so the ranking is not a reward for giant RAM numbers alone. The £4 price, London location and GMod-specific database/Workshop stack are what make it excellent.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the live £4/£12/£20 plan ladder, RAM and player allocations, London location, free MySQL, Workshop installer, FTP/SFTP and 48-hour refund.

What it taught us: GMod hosting should be judged as a community platform, not just a game process. MySQL, Workshop management and London routing make EUGameHost much more useful than a generic high-RAM plan.

Pros
  • ✓ Outstanding £4 entry price
  • ✓ London hardware
  • ✓ Free MySQL database
  • ✓ Workshop and FTP/SFTP tooling
  • ✓ 48-hour refund
Cons
  • ✗ 16GB is extreme overprovisioning for many small servers
  • ✗ Hardware performance figures are provider claims, not GSH benchmarks

Hexane Networks

Best ultra-cheap GMod specialist
£2.49/mo8 slots · unlimited RAM/CPU policy
25GB SSD/NVMe · custom CPU/RAM modelLondon · Virginia

Hexane is one of the best discoveries in this refresh. Eight slots cost £2.49 per month, 16 cost £4.49 and 32 cost £7.49, all with London available. The configurator describes RAM and CPU as unlimited under the package policy, with 25GB SSD/NVMe storage before optional upgrades.

More importantly, the product is built around how GMod servers are actually operated. Workshop collections, FastDL, SFTP, Lua hot reload and custom startup arguments are first-class features rather than generic 'mod support' badges. For a small TTT, Sandbox or development server, it is extremely hard to beat. Larger communities should still watch actual CPU contention rather than assuming 'unlimited' means dedicated hardware.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current 8/16/32/64/128-slot prices, London location, storage, Workshop collection tooling, FastDL, SFTP and 72-hour refund.

What it taught us: GMod-specific tools can matter more than a large generic control panel. Hexane solves Workshop/FastDL workflow problems directly and does it at one of the lowest UK prices.

Pros
  • ✓ Only £2.49 for 8 slots
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ FastDL included
  • ✓ Workshop collection tooling
  • ✓ 72-hour refund
Cons
  • ✗ Unlimited CPU/RAM is a policy description, not dedicated resources
  • ✗ Small 8-slot package is not the right tier for a growing public community

4Kinetic Hosting logo

Kinetic Hosting

Best transparent RAM value
£3.68/mo$4.99 · 4GB RAM
4GB · 8 CPU threads · NVMeLondon + EU network

Kinetic's public product ladder starts at $4.99 for 4GB, with 8GB at $7.99 and 10GB at $9.99. Four gigabytes is a very sensible starting allocation for a normal modded TTT, Prop Hunt or smaller DarkRP server, and the provider does not impose a separate player-slot charge.

NVMe, eight CPU threads, modern high-clock Ryzen-class hardware, five backup slots, SFTP, schedules and a seven-day refund are included. GMod can become CPU-limited long before it runs out of memory when Lua hooks, physics and addon logic become heavy, so Kinetic's clear hardware positioning is more useful than providers that only advertise slot counts.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We re-checked Kinetic's current GMod RAM ladder and compared it with the project's provider master, then verified the current platform features used across its game servers.

What it taught us: Four gigabytes is the right kind of transparent starting point for GMod. It gives enough memory for a real modded server without forcing the buyer to pay for excessive RAM.

Pros
  • ✓ 4GB for $4.99
  • ✓ Transparent upgrade ladder
  • ✓ High-clock CPU positioning
  • ✓ Five backups and SFTP
  • ✓ Seven-day refund
Cons
  • ✗ Large DarkRP/SWRP communities can outgrow 4GB
  • ✗ Workshop/FastDL tooling is less GMod-specialist than Hexane or Zeros Host

Fly-Serv

Best CPU/RAM transparency
£6.63/mo8GB DDR5 · incl. VAT
8GB · 2 vCore Ryzen 7950X3D · 50GB NVMeEuropean network

Fly-Serv publishes one of the clearest hardware ladders in the market. A small 2GB server costs £2.48 including VAT, while the 8GB plan we use for comparison is £6.63 with two vCores on Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 50GB NVMe and unlimited player slots.

The 8GB package is attractive for an addon-heavy public community because both memory and CPU allocation are explicit. Automatic backups are not included in the base price and currently add £1.65 per month, which is the main reason Fly-Serv does not rank above Kinetic.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current 2GB, 8GB, 16GB and unlimited plans, VAT treatment, CPU/vCore allocations, storage, unlimited slots and the optional backup charge.

What it taught us: Transparent CPU allocation is rare in game hosting. Fly-Serv makes it much easier to judge whether a heavier DarkRP server is buying real compute rather than only more RAM.

Pros
  • ✓ Clear CPU and RAM allocations
  • ✓ 8GB for £6.63 incl. VAT
  • ✓ Ryzen 7950X3D
  • ✓ Unlimited slots
  • ✓ NVMe storage
Cons
  • ✗ Automatic backup costs extra
  • ✗ No confirmed London-specific deployment on the current GMod page

Sparked Host

Best flexible hardware ladder
£5.91/mo$8 · 4GB Budget tier
4GB · 2 vCPU · 50GB SSDLondon · Paris · Helsinki · Vienna

Sparked Host's Budget ladder is exceptionally cheap, starting at $2 for 1GB, $4 for 2GB and $8 for 4GB. We compare the 4GB tier because it is a realistic modded-community baseline rather than a bare dev server. London is available alongside Paris, Helsinki and Vienna.

The Budget tier uses older dual Xeon hardware, but buyers can move to Enterprise Ryzen 7900 or Extreme Ryzen 9900X tiers when single-thread performance matters more. Apollo Panel includes file management and install tools, while backups are optional rather than bundled. A one-day trial and two-day refund reduce the risk of testing the cheaper hardware first.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current Budget 1/2/4GB pricing, London location, Budget/Enterprise/Extreme hardware classes, optional backup prices and current trial/refund wording.

What it taught us: Sparked Host deserves credit for separating cheap RAM from premium CPU. A small friend server can stay on Budget, while a public DarkRP server can spend specifically on faster silicon.

Pros
  • ✓ $8 for a real 4GB tier
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ Choice of CPU classes
  • ✓ One-day trial
  • ✓ Good upgrade path
Cons
  • ✗ Budget tier uses older Xeon hardware
  • ✗ Backups cost extra

Zeros Host

Best DarkRP-specific panel
£5.00/mo2GB · 40GB storage
2GB-16GB RAMUK/EU · London node available

Zeros Host is built specifically for the sort of work that consumes a GMod owner's evening. Starter costs £5 for 2GB, Growing £10 for 4GB and Roleplay £19 for 8GB. A London node exists alongside the provider's broader European deployment.

Every tier gets the same GMod panel: Workshop collection synchronisation, a Lua backdoor scanner, VS Code-style browser editing, backups, crash auto-restart and DarkRP setup tools. There is a 24-hour no-card free trial and a 14-day money-back guarantee. The raw price is not the absolute cheapest, but the administration tooling is far ahead of most generic hosts.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current 2/4/8/16GB pricing, the London node, free trial, refund and current GMod-specific panel features.

What it taught us: For DarkRP and custom Lua communities, time saved managing addons and finding bad code can be worth more than an extra couple of gigabytes of RAM.

Pros
  • ✓ Purpose-built GMod tooling
  • ✓ London availability
  • ✓ Backdoor scanner and browser IDE
  • ✓ 24-hour free trial
  • ✓ 14-day refund
Cons
  • ✗ 4GB tier costs £10
  • ✗ Smaller provider than the legacy global hosts

8AleForge logo

AleForge

Best cheap 6GB fixed plan
£4.42/mo$5.99 · 6GB Budget
6GB · 4 CPU cores · 40GB NVMeProvider network

AleForge's Budget Apprentice tier gives 6GB RAM, four CPU cores, 40GB NVMe and two user backups for $5.99 per month. Eight gigabytes costs $7.99 and 10GB costs $9.99, making the full upgrade ladder easy to compare.

This is a lot of fixed resource for the price. We keep it below Zeros Host because the GMod-specific management layer is less differentiated and the current GMod page does not make a London location as explicit as the UK-specialist hosts above. As a pure resource buy, though, it is excellent.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current Budget 6/8/10GB ladder, CPU-core allocation, NVMe and backup counts.

What it taught us: GMod does not require huge memory by default, but a clean 6GB plan at this price leaves plenty of room for Workshop content without forcing a premium package.

Pros
  • ✓ 6GB for $5.99
  • ✓ Four CPU cores listed
  • ✓ NVMe
  • ✓ Backups included
  • ✓ Very clear resource ladder
Cons
  • ✗ Location choice is less clear on the current GMod page
  • ✗ Less GMod-specialist tooling than the dedicated community hosts
9Gaming Deluxe logo

Gaming Deluxe

Best UK backup retention
£4.90/moNative GBP starting price
Starting resources not publicLondon · Paris · Frankfurt

Gaming Deluxe starts Garry's Mod at £4.90 per month and offers London, Paris and Frankfurt. The platform advertises modern 5GHz-plus Intel/AMD hardware, NVMe, DDR5, DDoS protection and full FTP.

Its strongest operational feature is seven days of automatic offsite backups. The weakness is comparison transparency: the public page does not show exactly how much RAM or how many slots the £4.90 package buys. That prevents the headline price from outranking fixed-resource products even though the UK feature set is strong.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current £4.90 starting price, London/EU locations, seven-day backup retention, FTP and current hardware positioning.

What it taught us: Gaming Deluxe may be a bargain at checkout, but a low starting number cannot beat providers that publish the actual resource allocation.

Pros
  • ✓ Low native GBP price
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ Seven-day offsite backups
  • ✓ Full FTP
  • ✓ Strong hardware positioning
Cons
  • ✗ Starting RAM not public
  • ✗ Starting player count not public
10GTX Gaming logo

GTX Gaming

Best established UK network
£6.00/moNative GBP starting price
Customisable RAM/CPU · exact start not publicLondon · Stockholm · Paris · Frankfurt

GTX Gaming currently advertises Garry's Mod from £6 per month and says it hosts more than 250 GMod servers. London is available alongside Stockholm, Paris, Frankfurt and a large global network. The control panel supports maps, mods, world uploads, updates and offsite backups.

GTX also exposes upgrade paths across Intel and Ryzen hardware, including modern high-clock options. The public GMod page does not attach a clean RAM/slot configuration to the £6 headline, so transparent packages remain above it. For an established UK community that wants a mature panel and location choice, it remains a safe option.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current £6 starting positioning, live London/EU locations, CPU hardware range, offsite backups and 24-hour refund.

What it taught us: GTX's selling point is maturity and configurability rather than the cheapest published RAM. That is useful, but harder to compare directly.

Pros
  • ✓ London and Stockholm
  • ✓ Established GMod platform
  • ✓ Offsite backups
  • ✓ Broad CPU options
  • ✓ 24-hour refund
Cons
  • ✗ Entry RAM not public
  • ✗ Entry player allocation not public
11Host Havoc logo

Host Havoc

Best premium owned infrastructure
£7.38/mo$10 · 20 slots
20-100 slots · RAM not publicLondon · Amsterdam + global

Host Havoc starts Garry's Mod at $10 for 20 slots and scales all the way to 100. London and Amsterdam are available, and the company owns and operates its own server hardware rather than only reselling third-party game instances.

Its TCAdmin environment includes a Workshop installer, file access, logs, offsite backups and restore tools. Exact RAM is not disclosed, so the product cannot beat cheaper fixed-memory plans on raw value, but 20 slots for roughly £7.38 is still reasonable for a public TTT or smaller RP community.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current 20-slot $10 start, slot ladder, London/Amsterdam availability, hardware ownership, Workshop and backup/restore features.

What it taught us: Host Havoc is a higher-confidence infrastructure buy, but Garry's Mod is a game where exact CPU/RAM information is particularly valuable and the page does not expose it.

Pros
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ 20 slots for $10
  • ✓ Own physical infrastructure
  • ✓ Workshop installer
  • ✓ Offsite backups
Cons
  • ✗ RAM allocation not public
  • ✗ Less resource transparency than the top fixed-RAM hosts
12PG

Physgun

Best specialist tooling, expensive RAM
£7.29/mo$9.87 · Micro · 2GB DDR5
2GB · OC Ryzen 7900X · 50GB NVMeLondon · Chicago

Physgun is probably the most GMod-specialised control panel in this comparison. FastDL and Workshop Sync, a backdoor scanner, live server profiler, MySQL databases, SSH, VS Code integration, schedules and GMod-focused engine tooling are all built in. London and Chicago are available.

The price needs careful reading. The public page says 'starting at $5.87', but that is a Dev Server intended for isolated testing. The actual Micro game server is $9.87 for 2GB, while the 4GB Starter is $19.87. Those prices are high, so Physgun ranks on tooling rather than value. We do not present the dev environment as a normal production host.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We audited the plan section closely and separated the $5.87 Dev Server from the $9.87 2GB Micro and $19.87 4GB Starter. We also checked London, FastDL/Workshop Sync, profiler, backdoor scanning, databases and refund terms.

What it taught us: This is exactly why 'from' prices need context. Physgun has superb GMod-specific features, but $5.87 is not the production plan a normal buyer thinks it is.

Pros
  • ✓ Exceptional GMod tooling
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ FastDL and Workshop Sync
  • ✓ Backdoor scanner/profiler
  • ✓ High-clock Ryzen platform
Cons
  • ✗ 2GB production plan costs $9.87
  • ✗ 4GB Starter costs $19.87

RocketNode

Best cheap FastDL package
£4.61/mo$6.25 · 2GB · 2 vCPU
2GB · 2 vCPU · 30GB SSDParis + global network

RocketNode's Starter costs $6.25 for 2GB RAM, two vCPU and 30GB SSD. The next 4GB tier is $12.25. Unlimited provider-side slots, Workshop installer, FastDL, DDoS protection and three backup slots are included.

Paris is a currently selectable European deployment and the wider location network also lists London, though availability should be checked during ordering. The one-day free trial is useful. The 2GB package is better suited to a small TTT, Sandbox or development community than a heavily scripted DarkRP server.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current 2/4/6/8GB ladder, vCPU/storage allocations, Workshop installer, FastDL, free three-day backup option and current region list.

What it taught us: RocketNode gets the basics of GMod content delivery right. The main limitation is that the cheapest tier is deliberately small.

Pros
  • ✓ Transparent $6.25 2GB plan
  • ✓ FastDL included
  • ✓ Workshop installer
  • ✓ Free backup slots
  • ✓ One-day trial
Cons
  • ✗ 2GB is small for heavy RP stacks
  • ✗ London appears in the wider network but should be checked for live stock

144NetPlayers logo

4NetPlayers

Best simple tax-inclusive slot host
£9.19/mo8 slots · regular price
RAM not publicLondon · Frankfurt · Paris + global

4NetPlayers sells four Garry's Mod slots for £4.59 and eight for £9.19 at the normal monthly rate. Current first-month promotions are cheaper, but we use renewal pricing. London, Frankfurt and Paris are available and tax is included.

NVMe, automatic backups, FTP and Workshop add-on support make it straightforward for smaller groups. The public product does not disclose RAM, and the slot model becomes less attractive for large public communities than resource-based hosts with no artificial player limit.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current regular four/eight-slot pricing rather than promotional prices, London/EU network, tax treatment, Workshop and backup features.

What it taught us: 4NetPlayers works well for a defined small group, but GMod communities often grow unpredictably and slot-based pricing can become the constraint.

Pros
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ Tax included
  • ✓ Automatic backups
  • ✓ NVMe
  • ✓ Simple small-group pricing
Cons
  • ✗ RAM not public
  • ✗ Slot pricing is less attractive for growing communities

RespawnHost

Best pay-per-use GMod host
£8.57/mo€10 · 4GB fixed
4GB · fixed or pay-per-useFrankfurt

RespawnHost is one of the few GMod providers where the billing model can matter more than the monthly rate. Fixed hosting starts at €5 for 2GB and €10 for 4GB, while pay-per-use starts from €0.024 per running hour.

Workshop collections, FastDL, RCON, free MySQL, SFTP and DDoS protection are included, and the current documentation is unusually game-specific. Frankfurt is the European region. If your TTT group only plays a few nights per week, pay-per-use can undercut cheaper-looking 24/7 monthly plans.

What we checked: We verified the current €5 2GB and €10 4GB fixed tiers, pay-per-use floor, Workshop/FastDL/RCON, free MySQL and Frankfurt region.

What it taught us: The cheapest monthly server is not automatically cheapest for an intermittent group. Runtime billing is genuinely useful for GMod sessions that do not need permanent uptime.

Pros
  • ✓ Unique pay-per-use model
  • ✓ FastDL and Workshop support
  • ✓ Free MySQL
  • ✓ Strong current documentation
  • ✓ Frankfurt
Cons
  • ✗ 4GB fixed plan is not a price leader
  • ✗ No London location

Game Host Bros

Best premium hardware transparency
£5.90/mo$7.99 · 4GB RAM
4GB · Ryzen 9950X · NVMe14 global locations

Game Host Bros starts at $7.99 for 4GB, followed by 6GB at $11.99 and 8GB at $15.99. Its current GMod page specifies Ryzen 9 9950X hardware, NVMe, DDoS protection, daily backups and 14 global server locations.

Workshop collection support and full file access are built into the panel, with free transfers and a seven-day money-back guarantee. The current order card defaults to Montreal and does not make a UK region obvious in the crawl, so we do not assume London. The hardware package itself is excellent.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current 4/6/8GB pricing, Ryzen 9950X, NVMe, daily backups, Workshop collections, location count and refund terms.

What it taught us: Strong hardware transparency earns points, but UK-facing rankings also need a verified nearby deployment rather than assuming one from a generic global count.

Pros
  • ✓ 4GB on Ryzen 9950X
  • ✓ Daily backups
  • ✓ Workshop support
  • ✓ Free migrations
  • ✓ Seven-day refund
Cons
  • ✗ No London location verified in the current order card
  • ✗ More expensive than LOW.MS/Kinetic for similar usable memory

Nitrado

Best flexible legacy slot platform
£11.59/mo10 slots · 30 days
4-200 configurable slots · RAM not publicLondon · Frankfurt + global

Nitrado's current UK offers are £4.77 for four slots, £11.59 for 10 and £17.69 for 20, each on a 30-day subscription. The custom configurator supports four to 200 slots. London and Frankfurt are available.

Daily backups, DDoS protection, game switching and TTT-specific setup make the platform easy to operate. RAM is not public, and 10 slots for £11.59 is no longer particularly cheap when several London competitors sell resource-based plans for half that.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the live 4/10/20-slot UK prices, 4-200 custom range, London/Frankfurt locations, backup and flexibility features.

What it taught us: Nitrado still wins on configurability and network breadth, but the modern GMod market is much more aggressive on price and hardware transparency.

Pros
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ Flexible 4-200 slots
  • ✓ Daily backups
  • ✓ Game switching
  • ✓ Established platform
Cons
  • ✗ RAM allocation not public
  • ✗ 10-slot price is relatively high
18Shockbyte logo

Shockbyte

Best mainstream beginner setup
£7.38/mo$9.99 · 3GB Tool Gun
3GB · full files · backupsGlobal locations

Shockbyte's current live GMod plans are $4.99 for 1GB, $9.99 for 3GB and $11.99 for 4GB-plus. We compare the 3GB Tool Gun tier rather than the 1GB Crowbar because it is the first package we would recommend for a real modded server.

Steam Workshop, custom maps, full FTP, automatic backups, DDoS protection and a 72-hour self-service refund are included. The platform is easy for beginners, but 3GB at $9.99 is weak value beside LOW.MS, Kinetic, Hexane and AleForge.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current live 1GB/3GB/4GB+ plan cards and current Workshop, file, backup and refund features.

What it taught us: The old project master only had a $3.74 catalogue teaser with unverified configuration. The live game page now gives us the real plan ladder, so this replacement uses $9.99/3GB as the honest normal recommendation.

Pros
  • ✓ Clear current RAM tiers
  • ✓ Steam Workshop support
  • ✓ Automatic backups
  • ✓ Full FTP
  • ✓ 72-hour refund
Cons
  • ✗ 3GB costs $9.99
  • ✗ Less price-efficient than the top fixed-resource hosts

AxentHost

Best genuinely free option
£0 possibleFree credits · 1GB costs 5 credits/hour
1-16GB · Ryzen · NVMeEurope · North America

AxentHost can genuinely run a Garry's Mod server without a monthly payment. One gigabyte costs five credits per hour, while recurring web and mobile claims can fund a small server continuously. There is no card requirement and RAM scales from 1GB to 16GB.

The provider advertises Ryzen 9 9900X/5950X hardware, NVMe, automated backups, full browser file access and EU/NA deployment. The catch is convenience: free hosting requires ongoing credit claiming and ad-supported engagement. It is brilliant for testing or students, less frictionless than paying £4-£5 for a normal plan.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current GMod credit rate, free-claim model, RAM range, hardware, backups, no-card policy and regions.

What it taught us: Free can be real when the business model is explicit. We rank AxentHost as a niche choice because the user's time and attention are part of the cost.

Pros
  • ✓ Can genuinely cost £0
  • ✓ No card required
  • ✓ 1-16GB scaling
  • ✓ Automated backups
  • ✓ No artificial slots
Cons
  • ✗ Requires recurring credit claiming
  • ✗ No London-specific location, only a Europe region

20Survival Servers logo

Survival Servers

Best deep backup history
Configure liveSlot-based · current total varies
Slots · standard/premium CPU optionsGermany · France

Survival Servers' strongest GMod feature is recovery depth. Its platform includes five days of database backups at 30-minute increments, full FTP/database access, custom launch parameters and a choice between Standard and faster Premium hardware.

Germany and France are the nearest European locations. The current product crawl does not expose a clean normal monthly total for the custom configuration, so we leave the price as Configure live rather than recycling the old GSH page's $10 figure. Strong tooling, weak comparison transparency.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current active GMod support, backup retention, FTP/database access, CPU options, EU locations and the lack of a clean machine-readable monthly package in the current crawl.

What it taught us: The old fixed $10 claim is not safe to preserve. The product remains interesting for recovery-heavy communities, but it needs a checkout check for current value.

Pros
  • ✓ Excellent backup history
  • ✓ Full FTP/database access
  • ✓ High-single-thread CPU focus
  • ✓ Custom launch parameters
  • ✓ Established survival/game hosting
Cons
  • ✗ No London location
  • ✗ Current normal package price is not cleanly exposed
21Indifferent Broccoli logo

Indifferent Broccoli

Best uncapped-RAM free trial
£11.81/mo$15.99 · 8 players · uncapped RAM
Uncapped RAM · player-pricedEU · NA · Asia

Indifferent Broccoli starts at $5.99 for one player, then $9.99 for four, $12.99 for six, $15.99 for eight and $24.99 for 32. RAM is uncapped on every plan, so memory growth is never the billing variable.

The two-day free trial requires no card and the provider offers a seven-day refund. This model works brilliantly for some survival games, but Garry's Mod is built around communities where player counts can grow. Paying by slot becomes expensive compared with £4-£8 resource-based hosts that do not cap players.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current 1-32 player ladder, uncapped-RAM wording, trial, region choices and refund model.

What it taught us: Uncapped RAM is less compelling when player count is the resource that actually becomes expensive. GMod is one of the weaker matches for Indifferent Broccoli's billing model.

Pros
  • ✓ Uncapped RAM
  • ✓ No-card two-day trial
  • ✓ Seven-day refund
  • ✓ Simple setup
  • ✓ Multiple regions
Cons
  • ✗ Eight players already cost $15.99
  • ✗ Player-based billing scales badly for public GMod communities
22GPORTAL logo

GPORTAL

Best simple mainstream EU host
£11.81/mo$15.99 · 10 slots / 30 days
10 slots · RAM not publicCentral Europe

GPORTAL charges $15.99 per 30 days for 10 Garry's Mod slots, or $37.29 for 40. The platform provides NVMe infrastructure, DDoS protection, game switching and a straightforward managed web interface.

The current product points to Central Europe rather than a confirmed London deployment, and RAM is not public. For a small group the service is simple, but at roughly £11.80 for 10 slots it is much more expensive than several specialist UK products.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current 10-slot and 40-slot 30-day prices, Central Europe location and current platform features.

What it taught us: GPORTAL is easy to use but does not currently win on GMod-specific tooling, resource clarity or price.

Pros
  • ✓ Simple managed platform
  • ✓ NVMe
  • ✓ DDoS protection
  • ✓ Game switching
  • ✓ 24/7 support
Cons
  • ✗ No confirmed London GMod location
  • ✗ RAM not public and price is relatively high

Nodecraft

Best panel, expensive 24/7
£14.75/mo$19.98 regular · Premium 4GB
4GB · true 24/7 PremiumGlobal network

Nodecraft's Premium 4GB GMod server renews at $19.98 per month, while 2GB is $9.98 and 6GB is $29.98. The cheaper Lite model can sleep when unused, but a public community generally needs the true 24/7 Premium product.

Nodecraft's panel, cloud backups, free trials and configuration UX remain excellent. The issue is simply economics: Garry's Mod has too many £4-£8 competitors for $19.98/4GB to rank highly unless the interface itself is your priority.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified current regular Premium 2/4/6GB pricing, first-month sale separation, Lite/Premium behaviour, backup and trial features.

What it taught us: Wake & Play is smart for private groups, but it is not an equivalent product to an always-online public GMod server.

Pros
  • ✓ Excellent control panel
  • ✓ Cloud backups
  • ✓ Free trial
  • ✓ Flexible RAM range
  • ✓ Lite option for private groups
Cons
  • ✗ 4GB 24/7 Premium is $19.98
  • ✗ Lite is not continuously online

Wabbanode

Good UK platform, broken configurator
Broken public total3GB recommended currently shows $0.00
1-16GB selectableLondon · Germany · France · Finland

Wabbanode exposes a sensible 1GB-16GB GMod memory slider and offers London, Germany, France and Finland. Workshop integration, SFTP, NVMe and a seven-day refund are useful for a UK community.

The live product currently displays the recommended 3GB server and total price as $0.00. Its optional dedicated-port selector also says port 7777, which looks like a generic template mistake for a Source game where 27015 is the common default. We therefore give the platform credit while heavily penalising storefront QA.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current RAM guidance, London/EU locations, Workshop/SFTP features, broken $0.00 total and the questionable port-7777 configurator text.

What it taught us: A GMod-specific sales page should know the basics of a Source server. Broken pricing plus a generic port value means buyers must verify too much manually.

Pros
  • ✓ London location
  • ✓ Workshop integration
  • ✓ SFTP
  • ✓ Flexible RAM
  • ✓ Seven-day refund
Cons
  • ✗ Configurator currently displays $0.00
  • ✗ Dedicated-port text appears to use a generic non-GMod value

Best polished dynamic platform

Configurable · NVMe21 locations

BisectHosting offers Garry's Mod through BisectOne with 21 locations, NVMe, DDoS protection, three days of free backups, player management and Instance Manager. Its control panel is one of the more polished generic platforms in the comparison.

The current per-GB price renders dynamically and is not machine-readable in the public crawl. We refuse to resurrect an old fixed price from the project database or guess from another game. If checkout is competitive, Bisect can move much higher.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified active GMod support, 21 locations, NVMe, backup retention, player/instance tools and current dynamic pricing behaviour.

What it taught us: An honest 'Configure live' is better than stale precision. This replacement removes fixed prices we cannot validate.

Pros
  • ✓ Excellent panel
  • ✓ 21 locations
  • ✓ Three days of backups
  • ✓ NVMe
  • ✓ 24/7 support
Cons
  • ✗ Exact recurring price not publicly extractable
  • ✗ Hard to judge value before checkout
26ScalaCube logo

ScalaCube

Active UK option, weak price transparency

SSD · resource package unclearUnited Kingdom + global

ScalaCube has an active Garry's Mod product and lists the United Kingdom among its worldwide locations. SSD storage, DDoS protection, server settings control, mod support and a seven-day guarantee are part of the offer.

The current page does not expose a usable recurring price or a clear RAM/slot package in our crawl. With so many GMod specialists publishing exact prices and resources, that lack of transparency pushes ScalaCube close to the bottom despite its UK availability.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified active GMod support, UK location, SSD/DDoS/mod features and the lack of a readable current price.

What it taught us: GMod buyers have enough transparent alternatives that a hidden price is now a serious competitive disadvantage.

Pros
  • ✓ United Kingdom location
  • ✓ SSD
  • ✓ DDoS protection
  • ✓ Mod support
  • ✓ Seven-day guarantee
Cons
  • ✗ Current price not exposed
  • ✗ Resource allocation unclear

Citadel Servers

Strong GMod KB, broken storefront
Broken £0.00 listingCurrent cart output
Product exists · resources unclearBroad Citadel network

Citadel maintains one of the deeper GMod knowledge bases among generic hosts, with guides for FastDL, Workshop items, ULX, gamemodes, admins, maps and Lua errors. The hosting platform also provides the usual file/configuration controls.

The current shopping cart lists Garry's Mod at £0.00 per month. That is clearly broken storefront data, not free hosting, and there is no clean public resource package to substitute. We will not invent a price from other Citadel games, so it ranks last until the order page is fixed.

Live Garry’s Mod product audit

What we checked: We verified the current £0.00 cart output and separately checked Citadel's existing GMod-specific knowledge-base categories.

What it taught us: Good documentation is valuable, but a broken checkout prevents a fair purchase recommendation. £0.00 is not treated as a real price.

Pros
  • ✓ Extensive GMod knowledge base
  • ✓ FastDL and Workshop guidance
  • ✓ ULX/gamemode documentation
  • ✓ Established hosting platform
Cons
  • ✗ Current cart price is broken
  • ✗ Resource package cannot be compared reliably

Sizing guide

How much RAM does a Garry’s Mod server need?

Facepunch does not publish a simple official RAM-per-player table, so these are practical buying targets based on current managed products and typical community complexity, not fake official minimums.

Private Sandbox / small TTT

1-2GB can be enough for a small group, modest map and light addon collection. This is where the £2-£5 starter plans make sense.

Normal modded community

3-4GB is our comfortable default for TTT, Prop Hunt or a smaller DarkRP server. CPU and addon quality often matter more from here.

Heavy DarkRP / SWRP

6-8GB+ gives room for large Workshop packs, persistent scripts and higher population. Do not assume more RAM fixes expensive Lua hooks or physics.

Workshop & FastDL

How GMod actually delivers custom content

A good GMod host should make both server-side installation and client downloads easy. They are related, but they are not the same operation.

Install server addons

Dedicated servers can mount a public or unlisted Workshop collection at startup with +host_workshop_collection. The collection can auto-update on restart.

Make clients download content

resource.AddWorkshop marks individual Workshop items for clients. Current gamemode/map Workshop content can also be automatically marked when mounted correctly.

Use FastDL for custom files

FastDL is an HTTP content server for files outside a clean Workshop workflow. It is much faster than the obsolete Source ServerDL path.

Self-hosting

Running your own Garry’s Mod dedicated server

GMod has mature official dedicated-server tooling on Windows and Linux. macOS dedicated servers are no longer shipped.

Main Garry's Mod App ID: 4000
Dedicated server App ID: 4020

steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir ./gmodds +app_update 4020 validate +quit

Example launch:
srcds.exe +maxplayers 20 -console +gamemode sandbox +map gm_construct +sv_setsteamaccount YOUR_GSLT

Workshop collection:
+host_workshop_collection YOUR_COLLECTION_ID
Do not skip the GSLT: Facepunch says sv_setsteamaccount is mandatory and servers are penalised in ranking if it is missing. The common Source server port is 27015, but a managed host can allocate another port, so always use the address shown in your panel.
FAQ

Garry’s Mod server hosting questions

What is the best Garry's Mod server host right now?

LOW.MS is our current number one. Its live API price is $5.40, while the current billing catalogue includes a 10GB memory allowance, London hosting, mod support, free migration and up to 64 slots.

How much RAM does a Garry's Mod server need?

A small private Sandbox or TTT server can run around 1-2GB. We prefer 3-4GB for a normal modded community, while heavy DarkRP or StarWarsRP servers can justify 6-8GB or more. CPU and addon quality can become the bottleneck before RAM.

Is LOW.MS's price taken from the live API?

Yes. The current LOW.MS public games API lists the Garry's Mod slug with minPrice 5.4. We use that $5.40 as the source of truth and only convert it approximately to GBP.

What is the Garry's Mod dedicated server App ID?

The official dedicated server uses Steam App ID 4020. The main Garry's Mod game uses App ID 4000.

Do I need FastDL for a GMod server?

Not always. WorkshopDL is the preferred route for Workshop content. FastDL remains useful for custom non-Workshop assets. Facepunch describes old Source ServerDL as obsolete and limited to about 64kb/s.

How do I install a Workshop collection on a dedicated server?

Add +host_workshop_collection followed by the collection ID to the server launch command. The Workshop collection must be public or unlisted, not private.

Does a GMod server need a GSLT?

Yes for normal listed dedicated-server operation. Facepunch says sv_setsteamaccount should be configured with a Steam Game Server Login Token and that servers without it are penalised in ranking.

What port does Garry's Mod use?

27015 is the common/default Source server port. Managed hosts may allocate a different port, so use the exact IP and port provided by your host.

Should I choose more RAM or a faster CPU for DarkRP?

Once you have enough RAM for the addon set, a faster high-single-thread CPU can matter more. Lua hooks, physics, entities and scripts can make the main game loop the performance bottleneck.

Can I host Garry's Mod on Linux?

Yes. Facepunch publishes Linux dedicated-server instructions using SteamCMD and srcds_run. macOS dedicated servers are no longer shipped.

Our current pick: LOW.MS gives GMod a 10GB memory allowance, London and up to 20 cloud backups from about £3.99 per month. Check LOW.MS →
