Best Stardew Valley Server Hosting UK (Nov 2026)

Stardew Valley has no official dedicated server, so a hosted farm runs the game itself with SMAPI and a server mod that keeps the farm online when the host player logs off. That means a host’s Stardew setup, mod handling and backups matter more than raw CPU. A vanilla co-op farm needs only about 2GB. We compared 15 hosts that sell Stardew Valley servers today.

Quick verdict: Shockbyte is our #1, with plans sized by player count from £5.26/mo ($6.99) and a 72-hour refund. GGServers gives unlimited slots from £4.51/mo ($6.00), and Kinetic Hosting has 4GB with a UK location from £3.75/mo ($4.99).

Shockbyte names its Stardew Valley plans after crops and sizes them by player count: Parsnip for six players costs £5.26/mo ($6.99) a month, Rhubarb for 14 players £8.26/mo ($10.99) and Starfruit for 28 or more £10.53/mo ($14.00). That is easier to read than RAM for a farm, because the number that matters is how many cabins you need.

Automatic updates and backups are included, and a 72-hour self-serve refund gives you time to check that your save imports and your SMAPI mods load before you are committed.

Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full Shockbyte review.

  • Priced by player count
  • 72-hour refund
  • Automatic backups

2GB covers a vanilla co-op farm; a group running a large SMAPI modpack such as an expansion mod should start at 4GB.

Pros
  • Unlimited player slots
  • Simple RAM tiers

RespawnHost bills Stardew Valley per GB of RAM, and lets you choose between a fixed monthly plan and pay-per-use billing that charges only while the server runs. For a group that farms a few evenings a week, the second option can work out much cheaper than keeping the farm online all month.

It recommends 2GB for up to four players and 4GB for eight, runs SMAPI, and hosts in Frankfurt, which gives reasonable ping from the UK.

How it works

How a hosted Stardew Valley server works

Stardew Valley’s multiplayer is built around one player hosting the farm. Server hosts get around that by running the game headless with SMAPI and a server mod, which stands in for the host player: it sleeps at the end of the day, handles festivals and keeps the farm online around the clock.

Farmhands then join through the Steam invite code or by IP on UDP port 24642. Because the game runs in full, a host’s own Stardew tooling, such as cabin and money settings in the panel, makes a real difference to how easy the server is to run. Read the basics of game server hosting if this is your first rented server.

RAM

How much RAM does a Stardew Valley server need?

Very little for a vanilla farm. Memory rises with SMAPI mods, especially expansion mods that add new areas:

FarmPlayersModsRAM to aim for
Couple’s farm2Vanilla1–2GB
Full co-op4–8A few SMAPI mods2–3GB
Modded farm4–8Expansion mods4GB
Large modded farm8+ (mod)Big modpack6GB+

The PC version supports up to eight players. Our guide to game server hardware requirements explains how CPU and RAM interact.

Mods

Running SMAPI mods on a hosted farm

SMAPI is the mod loader for Stardew Valley, and every host here supports it. Content mods must be installed on the server and on every player’s PC, in matching versions, or players will fail to join. Small client-side mods, such as UI tweaks, only need to be on the player’s own machine.

Hosts with SFTP and a file manager, such as Vefixy, XGamingServer and Kinetic Hosting, make it easier to upload a modpack and keep the server in step with your players. Our explainers on cloud hosting and dedicated hosting cover the other ways to run a server.
