How we compared RimWorld server hosts
We compared each host’s live RimWorld Together product on what matters for a shared planet: enough RAM for your group, a UK or nearby EU location, backups, file access for the mod list, refunds and price. Prices come from each host’s public plan page, converted at £1 = $1.33. Our full process is on how we compare.
The 17 best RimWorld server hosts, reviewed
Each review covers the plan that suits a small group, what it costs and the detail that decides whether it suits your planet.
Kinetic Hosting
Kinetic Hosting sells RimWorld Together by memory: 4GB for £3.75/mo ($4.99) a month and 12GB for £9.77/mo ($12.99). 4GB is about twice what a RimWorld Together server needs for a small group, because the server only coordinates the shared planet while every colony runs on each player’s own PC.
Plans run on up to a Ryzen 9 9950X with NVMe storage and start with 60GB of space. There are no player caps, five backup slots and four splits, so one plan can run a second world or another game alongside the planet. Refunds are no-questions-asked within seven days.
Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full Kinetic Hosting review.

RimWorld has no official multiplayer
RimWorld itself is single-player. The hosts on this page sell servers for RimWorld Together, a free community mod where each player keeps their own colony, at their own pace, on one shared planet. You can trade, send caravans, gift items and raid other players’ settlements.
RimWorld Together is not the same as the Multiplayer mod by Zetrith, where everyone plays the same colony in sync. If you want shared control of one colony, a RimWorld Together server is the wrong purchase.
How much RAM does a RimWorld Together server need?
Very little compared with most survival games. The server keeps the shared planet and the trades between colonies, while each colony runs on its owner’s PC:
| Group | RAM | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2–4 players, light mods | 2GB | Plenty for the shared planet |
| 4–8 players | 3–4GB | Room for more settlements and events |
| Modded community | 6GB+ | Long enforced mod lists, many colonies |
That is why a 2GB plan is enough for most groups, and why 8GB or 12GB plans rarely pay off here. Our hardware requirements guide explains CPU and storage too.
Mods and versions on a RimWorld Together server
The server can enforce a mod list, with required, optional and forbidden mods, and every player’s game has to match the server’s RimWorld and mod versions. That makes full file access or SFTP more useful than one-click buttons, because you will edit the mod list and update the server when the mod updates.
Take a backup before changing the mod list or updating. GameServerKings, Kinetic Hosting and GTX Gaming all let you take manual backups as well as automatic ones.
British servers for RimWorld
6 of the 17 hosts show a London or UK location for RimWorld Together:
| Host | UK location | Entry price |
|---|---|---|
| GTX Gaming | ✓ London | £8.60/mo ($11.44) |
| PingPlayers | ✓ London | £4.05/30 days ($5.38) |
| GameServerKings | ✓ London | £4.05/mo ($5.39) |
| Gaming Deluxe | ✓ UK | £8.60/mo ($11.44) |
| MintServers | ✓ London | £7.51/mo ($9.99) |
| Citadel Servers | ✓ London | From £0.32 ($0.43) per slot |
RimWorld Together is not twitchy like a shooter, so a nearby server matters less than in most games, but London still keeps trades and raids responsive for UK groups. Amsterdam and Frankfurt are good fallbacks.

Self-hosting vs renting a RimWorld server
RimWorld Together’s server is free and light enough to run on almost any spare PC, but it has to stay on whenever anyone wants to play on the planet:
| Requirement | RimWorld Together server |
|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows or Linux (no macOS) |
| Default port | TCP 25555 |
| RAM | Light: the server does not simulate colonies |
| Clients | Every player needs RimWorld, the mod and a matching mod list |
You also need to forward TCP 25555, keep the server on the same mod version as your players and handle backups yourself.
| Self-host | Rented server | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free server; you pay for the machine and power | From £1.67/mo ($2.22) |
| Hardware | A spare PC that stays on | Sized by the plan you pick |
| Setup | Server files, port forward and mod list yourself | Installed for you |
| Uptime | Only while your machine is on | Online 24/7 |
| Backups | Your job | Included on most hosts |
Renting makes more sense once players in different time zones want to log in whenever they like. Our self-hosting guide and guide to game server hosting cover the trade-offs.

RimWorld server hosting FAQ
What is the best RimWorld server host in the UK?
Kinetic Hosting is our #1, with 4GB and no player caps on RimWorld Together. Our Kinetic Hosting review covers it in depth.
Does RimWorld have official multiplayer?
No. RimWorld is single-player. Hosted RimWorld servers run community multiplayer mods, almost always RimWorld Together.
What is the difference between RimWorld Together and the Multiplayer mod?
RimWorld Together gives every player their own colony on a shared planet, connected through a server. Zetrith’s Multiplayer mod has everyone playing the same colony in sync, so it is a different experience.
How much RAM does a RimWorld Together server need?
2GB is enough for most small groups, because the server only handles the shared planet while each colony runs on its owner’s PC. Go to 3–4GB for bigger groups and 6GB or more for heavily modded communities.
What port does a RimWorld Together server use?
TCP 25555 by default. On a hosted server the panel assigns it for you.
Can I use mods on a RimWorld Together server?
Yes. The server can enforce required, optional and forbidden mods, and every player’s mod list has to match. Full file access makes managing the list much easier.
Which RimWorld hosts have UK servers?
6 of the 17 hosts here show a London or UK location, including GTX Gaming, PingPlayers, GameServerKings and Gaming Deluxe. The UK servers section above lists them all.
What is the cheapest RimWorld server hosting?
On regular monthly prices, ZAP-Hosting starts at £1.67/mo ($2.22), Enzonic at £2.62/mo ($3.49) for 4GB and CreeperHost at £2.99/mo ($3.98). Kinetic Hosting’s 4GB plan costs £3.75/mo ($4.99). See our cheap game server hosting guide.
Can I host RimWorld Together myself?
Yes. The server runs on 64-bit Windows or Linux and is light on resources, but the machine must stay on, TCP 25555 must be forwarded and you handle updates and backups.
