V Rising is finished, and that helps hosting
Stunlock Studios said in March 2026 that V Rising’s content development has wrapped up. The studio called the journey to Dracula complete and is working on a new game set in the same world of Vardoran. V Rising itself continues with balance and bug-fix patches; the May 2026 patch adjusted spell balance and Corrupted blood mechanics without needing fresh saves or castles.
For a long-running server, that is good news. Past major updates could break save compatibility and push players onto legacy branches or fresh worlds, and that risk is now much lower. Small fixes still arrive: 1.1 Hot Fix 12 on 11 September 2026 added a server-side check to stop mismatched player permissions in castle ownership, and Stunlock used it to remind owners to back up their saves regularly.
What hardware does a V Rising server need?
V Rising is CPU-heavy and sensitive to server tick rate. Castle servants, boss encounters, raids and player movement can all be simulated at once, so single-core speed matters more than lots of cores. Stunlock recommends a maximum of 40 players per server; plans with more slots do not change that limit.
