Update 1.30, Badlands and the full wipe
Update 1.30 landed on 15 October 2026 with the paid Badlands expansion and a full wipe on every platform, so every server started again from a fresh world. Motorbikes are now in the base game on every map. If you run a modded server, take a backup and check each Workshop mod has a 1.30 build before you restart.
Badlands adds Nasdara, a 267km² map and the largest terrain Bohemia has built for DayZ, with sandstorms, heatstroke and scarce water, plus nearly 5,000 rebuildable structures. Every player needs the expansion to join a Nasdara server, and a map that size needs more memory than Chernarus.
How much RAM does a DayZ server need?
Bohemia Interactive lists 6GB for a DayZ dedicated server. Treat that as the floor: memory climbs with players, mods and the size of the map. These are practical allowances rather than official minimums.

What a good DayZ panel lets you control
PC, Xbox and PlayStation servers
Steam PC and console players still cannot share a server. Since Update 1.29, the PC Game Pass (Microsoft Store) version can join Xbox players on servers that allow keyboard and mouse, but it has no Steam Workshop mods. Self-hosting vs renting a DayZ server
The DayZ dedicated server is free through Steam (App ID 223350), and Bohemia documents both Windows and Linux builds, so you can run it on your own machine or a VPS. Workshop mods use the main game’s App ID, 221100, and 2302 is the usual game port.

How much RAM does a DayZ server need?
Bohemia Interactive lists 6GB for a dedicated server. Plan on 8–10GB for a public vanilla server, 10–12GB with a few Workshop mods and 12–16GB or more for Expansion-sized mod lists or Nasdara.
What changed in DayZ update 1.30?
Update 1.30 arrived on 15 October 2026 with the Badlands expansion and a full wipe on every platform. It also added motorbikes to every map. Back up and check your mods have 1.30 builds before you restart a modded server.
Does a Badlands server need the expansion?
Yes. Nasdara is part of the paid Badlands expansion, so every player who joins a Nasdara server has to own it. Chernarus and Livonia servers work as before.
Does DayZ have crossplay between PC and console?
Partly. Since Update 1.29, players on the PC Game Pass (Microsoft Store) version can play with Xbox players on servers that allow keyboard and mouse. The Steam version and PlayStation still use separate servers, and Steam Workshop mods stay on Steam PC servers. Nitrado sells console DayZ servers as well as PC ones.

How do I add mods to a DayZ server?
Load client mods with -mod= and server-only mods with -serverMod= in the launch line, and copy each mod’s keys to the server. Most hosts here install Workshop mods from the panel.
Can I edit loot on my DayZ server?
Yes. Loot is set in the Central Economy files, such as types.xml in the mission folder. Pick a host with full file access if you want custom loot or traders.
Can I host a DayZ server myself?
Yes. The dedicated server is free through Steam (App ID 223350) on Windows or Linux. You need a machine that stays on, port 2302 open and time to manage mods and backups yourself.
