Funcom shipped Conan Exiles Enhanced, a free full engine upgrade from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, on 5 May 2026, timed to the game’s eighth anniversary. It’s the biggest technical change the game has had since launch: Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah merged into one map, the client shrank from around 120GB to 40GB, and visuals got a full overhaul with Lumen and Nanite. Anyone who wanted to stay on the old engine could switch to “Conan Exiles Legacy,” which still gets critical fixes but no new content and no Bazaar access.
Since launch, Funcom has kept shipping. The first Enhanced patch landed 19 May, the second on 9 June with quality-of-life fixes and hotkeyed quick-stack. On 21 July, “Legacy of the Giant-Kings” went live, a new four-part story arc sending players beneath the Unnamed City into the Cyclopean Halls. Three months in, the mod ecosystem has largely caught up too, most major mods (Pippi, EEWA, Age of Calamitous) now have stable UE5-compatible releases, though it’s still worth checking a mod’s Workshop page before adding it to a live server.
If you’re still running a server on Legacy and considering the move now, the migration is still permanently one-way, back up game.db before touching anything. Full checklist below.
What makes Conan Exiles hosting more demanding than most survival games
Funcom caps Conan at 70 simultaneous players, a hard engine constraint. If a provider advertises 80 slots, something’s wrong. Most clans perform best at 20–40 active players, above that building and thrall AI calculations create real CPU pressure regardless of hardware.
Conan’s world simulation runs primarily on a single thread. A modern 5GHz Ryzen 9 outperforms a 32-core cloud server at 2.8GHz for this workload, especially during the Purge, when simultaneous NPC pathfinding hammers the CPU.
Steam Workshop mods are powerful but fragile, every game update risks breaking your mod list. After each patch, wait for authors to push compatibility fixes before restarting. Scheduled daily restarts clear memory leaks from long modded sessions.
Conan’s PvP is latency-sensitive, dodge windows, building damage and thrall combat all depend on timely server ticks. A London node keeps British clans under 15–20ms. Frankfurt adds 35–60ms on top of simulation load.
Top picks: Best Conan Exiles server hosting UK
Ranked on UK/London node, Conan-specific documentation, hardware quality, support speed and GBP value. DatHost does not offer Conan Exiles.
The Ryzen 9 9950X’s high single-core clock handles Conan’s CPU-hungry simulation without the throttling common on overcommitted cloud infrastructure, especially critical during the Purge, when dozens of NPC units pathfind simultaneously on a single thread. The London UK node keeps British clans under 20ms, a real difference in latency-sensitive raid combat.
Their cloud backup system runs independently of the Steam update process, critical for Conan, where running unpatched mods against a new game version is the most common cause of world corruption. Auto-updates keep your server patched without manual SteamCMD runs, which matters for an actively developed title still shipping regular content.
- ✓ Ryzen 9 9950X, top single-core for Purge events
- ✓ London UK, sub-20ms for British players
- ✓ UE5 Enhanced prep guide already published
- ✓ Setup, config and troubleshoot KB guides for Conan
- ✓ Cloud backups + auto-updates · Workshop + FTP
- ✓ 5-day refund · 4.8★ Trustpilot · 24/7 support
- ✗ Fewer global locations than the largest providers
- ✗ Not the cheapest entry price on the list
Host Havoc’s own physical hardware is the key differentiator for Conan specifically. The Purge, Conan’s automated enemy attack event, is one of the most CPU-intensive moments in any survival game, dozens of AI units pathfinding and fighting simultaneously on a single-threaded world simulation. On shared cloud infrastructure, this frequently triggers throttling from the provider’s overcommitted resource pool. Host Havoc’s physical servers don’t share CPU, so Purge waves run at full speed regardless of neighbouring servers.
Per-slot pricing at $0.50 makes a 30-player server £11.12/mo, strong value for a typical UK clan setup, with full DLC support including Isle of Siptah, Battlemetrics RCON integration, and sub-10-minute average support response. When a mod update breaks your server at midnight, that response time matters.
- ✓ Own hardware, no CPU throttling on Purge events
- ✓ London UK node · £0.37/slot value
- ✓ Full DLC + mod support, Isle of Siptah confirmed
- ✓ 4.8★ from 1,515 reviews · <10 min support
- ✗ 72h refund window (shorter than LOW.MS 5-day)
- ✗ Entry price higher than GTX Gaming
GTX Gaming has hosted Conan Exiles since the game launched in 2017 and built their control panel around what admins actually need: sliders for RAM, CPU priority, disk space and player count adjustable without migrating plans, 1-click mod pack installation that handles the modlist.txt workflow automatically, and Conan-specific default configurations.
At ~£4.45/mo entry, GTX Gaming is the most budget-friendly UK-node option on our list. For small clans of 5–15 players on vanilla or light mods, this is genuinely all you need. Plans scale to 32GB RAM as communities grow, and the 7-day refund is the most generous in our top 3.
- ✓ DDR5 5.7GHz, strong Purge event performance
- ✓ London + Stockholm UK nodes · 28 locations
- ✓ Conan-optimised panel with sliders since 2017
- ✓ ~£4.45/mo, best budget UK option on our list
- ✓ 7-day refund · 4.7★ (1,386 reviews)
- ✗ Less Conan-specific documentation than LOW.MS
- ✗ No dedicated UE5 Enhanced prep guide published
Every provider we checked
All prices GBP ($1=£0.741, €1=£0.865). ✅ UK = confirmed London node. DatHost does not offer Conan Exiles.
Isolated architecture means Purge events never compete with a neighbouring customer’s server for CPU. Higher entry floor than most.
Matches GTX Gaming on price with a confirmed London node. A genuinely close second for budget-conscious UK clans.
Beginner-friendly with 1-click mods and unlimited slots. Priced higher than our top 3, but a solid guided-setup option.
Solid EU option with an uptime SLA. Not a London node specifically, worth weighing against latency-sensitive raid nights.
Funcom’s official commercial partner, worth noting that’s a business relationship, not a quality endorsement, 4.0★ vs LOW.MS’s 4.8★.
Beginner-friendly panel with automatic mod handling and a confirmed UK node. Priced above GGServers for similar UK coverage.
Strong uptime guarantee and enterprise hardware on EU nodes. Solid pick if you’re not specifically UK-latency sensitive.
The only provider on our list confirmed for Xbox and PlayStation Conan servers. Console stays on UE4, no change from Enhanced.
Uncapped RAM suits heavy modded servers well, but the Germany-only location adds latency for UK clans specifically.
The cheapest per-GB rate on the whole panel, but no UK or EU location makes it a poor fit for UK-latency-sensitive raid nights.
A long track record and affordable EU pricing. Not UK-specific, but a reasonable option for EU-wide communities.
Strong AMD EPYC hardware for the price, but you’re installing and configuring Conan yourself. See our budget section below.
A UK company billing natively in pounds. Good pick if you’d rather deal with a British company for invoicing.
Confirmed Conan Exiles support on EU nodes. Not a London node, and a smaller review base than the providers above it.
A confirmed London node at a low price, but the lowest Trustpilot score in this comparison is worth weighing seriously.
Prices GBP, verify directly with providers before purchasing. G-Portal is Funcom’s official commercial partner, which reflects a business relationship, not a quality ranking.
Hosting Conan Exiles on a budget
GTX Gaming and GGServers already sit at the top of this list for good reason, they’re genuinely the cheapest confirmed-UK options with real hardware behind them. If you want a fast answer: pick whichever of the two has better availability right now.
~£4.45/mo with a Conan-specific panel built since 2017. Genuinely enough for a small clan on vanilla or light mods.
Matches GTX Gaming’s price at ~£4.45/mo with London-only rather than London + Stockholm. A close second worth checking for availability.
Hostinger’s VPS comes in at £7.03/mo with genuinely strong AMD EPYC hardware, but there’s no managed panel installing Conan Exiles, handling ServerSettings.ini or setting up mods for you. That’s real manual work, particularly with UE5 Enhanced’s changed server folder structure. Worth mentioning, but we’d point most budget-focused clans to GTX Gaming or GGServers above unless you’re already comfortable running a server yourself. See our VPS hosting guide before choosing this route.
Conan Exiles Enhanced (UE5), the full checklist
Most servers made the jump to Enhanced months ago, but if you’re still running Legacy and weighing the move now, or setting up a fresh server for the first time, everything below still applies.
✅ What changed for server owners
One server hosts both Exiled Lands and Siptah simultaneously
Full visual overhaul, Lumen GI, Nanite, Virtual Shadow Maps
Client size reduced from ~120GB to ~40GB
Revamped UI, crafting pulls from nearby containers
UE4 Exiled Lands game.db migrates to UE5 format
60+ FPS targeting on most modern PC hardware
⚠️ Critical changes every admin needs to know
All mods needed UE5 updates from their authors, largely resolved by now for major mods
No separate private Isle of Siptah-only servers in Enhanced
UE4 → UE5 migration is permanently one-way
Siptah bases could not be preserved through the transition
Steam-only update, no Epic Games Store or Xbox Game Pass
Console servers (Xbox/PS) remain on UE4, no change
If you’re upgrading a Legacy server now
Download ConanSandbox/Saved/game.db via FTP. This is your entire world, characters, buildings, thralls, everything. The conversion is one-way and irreversible. Run a manual cloud backup in your hosting panel AND keep a separate local copy, even if your host has auto-backups.
Check each mod’s Steam Workshop page for UE5 compatibility. The major names, Pippi, EEWA, Age of Calamitous, Fashionist, Emberlight, now have stable releases, but always verify before adding anything to a live server.
Siptah’s coordinates changed under the world merger. Placed structures there cannot be preserved. Dismantle and store materials in followers’ inventories before upgrading, then rebuild once players can travel back to the Siptah region from Exiled Lands.
Exiled Lands vs Isle of Siptah, choose before you order
This is one of the most consequential decisions for your server, more important than which host you pick. Get it wrong and half your group can’t connect on launch day.
The original hand-crafted world, desert, jungle, swamp, tundra, highlands and the volcano endgame. Base game only, anyone who owns Conan Exiles can connect. Most mods are designed around this map. In Enhanced, Siptah merges in on the same server.
✅ Start here unless your whole group owns the Siptah DLC
Procedural vault dungeons, the Maelstrom central storm, and Surge events. Every connecting player must own the paid DLC, no fallback for base-game players. In Enhanced, no standalone Siptah servers, Siptah merges into Exiled Lands servers instead.
⚠ Only if your entire group already owns the DLC
RAM, CPU and storage, by player count and mod complexity
| Configuration | Min RAM | Recommended | CPU priority | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small private (2–10, vanilla) | 4GB | 6–8GB | 4 cores @ 3.5GHz+ | 40GB SSD |
| Active community (10–30, light mods) | 8GB | 10–16GB | 6 cores @ 4.0GHz+ | 80GB NVMe |
| Clan PvP (20–50, raiding active) | 12GB | 16–24GB | 8 cores @ 4.4GHz+ | 100GB NVMe |
| Heavy modded (Pippi + EEWA + AoC) | 10GB | 16–20GB | High single-core 4.5GHz+ | 100GB+ NVMe |
| Large server (60–70, full mods, Purge on) | 24GB | 32GB+ | 12+ cores @ 4.4GHz+ | 200GB NVMe |
Required server ports
Managed hosts configure all four automatically. If hosting on the same machine as your game client, add -Multihome=192.168.x.x to your launch command to prevent NAT loopback issues.
Best Conan Exiles server mods
Mods live on Steam Workshop. Find mod IDs in Workshop page URLs, add them to ConanSandbox/Mods/modlist.txt (one per line, in load order), restart the server. Every player must have exactly the same mods in the same load order, mismatches cause immediate connection errors.
Admin & management mods, install these first
Admin commands, warp systems, player kits, custom in-game currency, automated messages. The most-installed Conan mod by a wide margin, essentially the standard admin toolkit. If you only install one mod, make it Pippi.
Increases stack sizes for materials, food and items, dramatically reduces inventory management overhead. Server-side only, players don’t need it client-side. Near-universal on private servers.
Content overhaul mods
Endgame Extended Weapon Arsenal, new dungeons, weapons, armour, boss encounters. CPU and RAM intensive.
Total conversion, new races, classes, factions, a complete narrative arc. Requires 12GB+ RAM. Not recommended alongside EEWA simultaneously.
New building pieces, crafting improvements, weapon display racks. Lightweight, complements Pippi well.
Transmog system, wear any armour skin while using better stat pieces underneath. Very popular on RP and PvE servers.
ServerSettings.ini, the settings that actually matter
Configuration lives in ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerSettings.ini. Most managed hosts expose common settings through their control panel.
// ServerSettings.ini, recommended values for a UK private server ServerName=My Conan Server ServerPassword= // Blank = public AdminPassword=changethisimmediately PVPEnabled=True // False for PvE BuildingDamageEnabled=True // Structure raiding on/off HarvestAmountMultiplier=2.0 XPRateMultiplier=1.5 // 1.5-3.0 for private servers ThirstMultiplier=0.5 // Lower = drink less frequently HungerMultiplier=0.5 // Lower = eat less frequently IsPurgeEnabled=True // The Purge attack event MaxAllowedActiveFollowers=10 BuildingDecayEnabled=True // Prevents dead-player build accumulation NetServerMaxTickRate=30 // Default, leave at 30
MaxAllowedActiveFollowers: default of 10 means a 30-player server can have 300 active thrall AI units simultaneously. Lowering to 5–6 dramatically reduces CPU load on busy servers with large bases. One of the highest-impact performance changes you can make.
IsPurgeEnabled + PurgeLevel: the Purge is entertaining but CPU-heavy. At PurgeLevel 5–6, the server dispatches large NPC armies that can overwhelm budget shared infrastructure. On entry-level plans, set PurgeLevel to 1–2 or disable until you’ve upgraded hardware.
BuildingDecayEnabled: strongly recommended on any server with new players or public access. Without decay, inactive players leave permanent buildings the server must track forever, one of the primary causes of long-term performance degradation.
PvP vs PvE vs PvE-Conflict, which ruleset is right for your server?
Player combat and building raids always enabled. Highest admin overhead, griefers, offline raid drama, early-game wipes causing churn. Best for established communities with clear rules and active admin enforcement.
Best for: established clans with active admins
No player combat damage, no building raids. Players cooperate, build and explore without PvP risk. Lowest admin overhead by far. Popular for RP communities and casual friend groups.
Best for: friend groups, new players, RP communities
Player combat enabled, building raids disabled outside defined raid windows. Players can fight in the open world but can’t demolish each other’s work outside scheduled hours.
Best for: most UK community servers, our recommendation
Best UK Conan Exiles host for your specific situation
Ryzen 9 9950X, London UK, UE5 prep guide already published, deepest Conan KB docs. From £10.38/mo.
Own hardware, no Purge CPU throttling, sub-10-min response. Best when a mod update breaks the server at midnight.
~£4.45/mo, Conan-specific panel since 2017, 1-click mod packs. Best value for small clans on vanilla or light mods.
Age of Calamitous + EEWA combined need 12–16GB+ RAM and unthrottled CPU. Isolated or own-hardware infrastructure avoids the crash risk of budget shared cloud.
The only confirmed provider on our list for Xbox and PlayStation. Console servers stay on UE4 after Enhanced, no change for console admins.
One-click setup, clean panel, auto mods, free subdomain. Significantly more accessible than bare-metal options for first-timers.
