Best BeamMP Server Hosting UK (Nov 2026)
BeamMP is the free multiplayer mod for BeamNG.drive, and its server is surprisingly light, because every crash is calculated on each player’s own PC rather than on the server. What you pay for is a good connection, a location near your drivers and room for mod packs. We compared 17 hosts that sell a BeamMP server on regular monthly price, UK locations, backups and refunds.
Quick verdict: Host Havoc is our #1: an official BeamMP partner with London and offsite backups from £2.82/mo ($3.75). Physgun is the cheapest London plan at £1.87/mo ($2.49) with no slot limits, and Wabbanode adds a 24-hour free trial and daily backups.

How a BeamMP server works, and why it needs so little
BeamNG.drive simulates every car as soft-body physics, which is heavy work. BeamMP does not move that work to the server. Each player’s PC simulates their own car, and the server relays positions, damage and inputs between players. The server itself is small: BeamMP lists 50MB of RAM and a 1GHz CPU as the minimum.
So why rent more than the minimum? Because the real limits are elsewhere:
- Upload bandwidth. Every client mod is sent from the server to each player as they join. A 2GB vehicle pack is 2GB per new player, so a home connection struggles long before a hosted one does.
- Lua plugins. Race timers, roleplay rules and admin tools run on the server and add load as player counts grow.
- Cars per player. MaxCars in the config sets how many vehicles each player can spawn. Every extra car is more data to sync.
That is why a 1GB plan comfortably handles friends cruising stock cars, while a busy public server with a big mod pack and plugins wants 3–4GB and a fast network.
How much RAM does a BeamMP server need?
Size your plan by drivers, mods and plugins rather than by maps:
| Server | Drivers | Sensible RAM |
|---|---|---|
| Friends cruising stock cars | 2–8 | 1GB |
| Regular group with a mod pack | 8–16 | 2GB |
| Public server, events, Lua plugins | 16+ | 3–4GB+ |
Shockbyte’s own tiers follow the same pattern, at eight drivers on 1GB, 16 on 2GB and 32 on 3GB. If your group is unsure, start small: most hosts here let you upgrade memory without losing your setup. Our hardware requirements guide explains how CPU, RAM and network trade off.
The four things every BeamMP server needs
Whichever host you choose, the setup comes down to the same pieces:
| What it is | Where it lives | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| AuthKey | ServerConfig.toml | Links the server to BeamMP’s network and public list |
| Client mods and maps | Resources/Client | Sent to every player on join |
| Lua plugins | Resources/Server | Race timers, roleplay rules, admin tools |
| Port 30814 | TCP and UDP | Players cannot connect if it is blocked |
You generate the AuthKey yourself by logging in to the BeamMP Keymaster with Discord. Each key runs one server at a time, so a second server needs a second key. The server name, map (for example West Coast USA), MaxPlayers, MaxCars and whether the server is private all sit in ServerConfig.toml. Hosted plans open the port for you and update the server software, which BeamMP does not do on its own.
BeamMP hosts with UK servers
9 of the 17 hosts show a London or UK location for BeamMP:
| Host | UK location | Entry price |
|---|---|---|
| Host Havoc | ✓ London | £2.82/mo ($3.75) |
| Physgun | ✓ London | £1.87/mo ($2.49) |
| Wabbanode | ✓ London | £8.99/mo ($11.96) |
| Gravel Host | ✓ London | £2.25/mo ($2.99) |
| FREAKHOSTING | ✓ London | £3.33/mo ($4.43) |
| G-Portal | ✓ London | £4.98/30 days ($6.62) |
| PingPerfect | ✓ London | £3.75/mo ($4.99) |
| Server.pro | ✓ UK | £5.26/mo ($7.00) |
| Citadel Servers | ✓ London | From £0.32 ($0.43) per slot |
Ping matters more in BeamMP than in many games, because other players’ cars are drawn where the server last said they were. A high ping shows up as cars jumping or clipping through each other in close racing. Kinetic, Shockbyte, 4NetPlayers and several others set the location at checkout, so check before you pay if you want London.
Mods, maps and Lua plugins
Client mods and custom maps are zip files dropped into Resources/Client. BeamMP sends them to every player as they join, so nobody has to install them by hand. That convenience is also why the size of your mod pack matters: keep it lean and drivers get in faster. Server-side Lua plugins go in Resources/Server and power things like race timing, roleplay rules and admin commands.
Back up before you add a big mod or plugin. One broken file can stop the server starting, and a restore is quicker than hunting for the culprit. Host Havoc includes offsite backups, Wabbanode daily backups and Physgun 30GB of secure backups.

Self-hosting vs renting a BeamMP server
The BeamMP server is free and open source, and runs on Windows or Linux. It is not on Steam, so there is no SteamCMD: you download it, add your AuthKey to ServerConfig.toml, forward port 30814 on TCP and UDP and start it.
| Self-host | Rented server | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free server software; you pay for power and bandwidth | From £1.80/mo ($2.39) |
| Setup | Download, AuthKey, config file, port forwarding | Installed for you |
| Updates | Replace the server by hand on each release | Updated by the host |
| Uptime | Only while your PC is on | Online 24/7 |
| Security | Your home IP is shared with every player | Host’s network and DDoS protection |
Our self-hosting guide and guide to dedicated hosting cover the trade-offs.
