How much RAM does a Killing Floor 2 server need?
Killing Floor 2 is modest on memory. A private six-player co-op server runs on 2–3GB, and 4GB leaves room for a good collection of Workshop maps. Versus servers with twelve players and heavy Workshop content benefit from 4–6GB:
| Server | Players | Sensible RAM |
|---|---|---|
| Private co-op | 1–6 | 2–3GB |
| Co-op with Workshop maps | 6 | 4GB |
| Versus or heavy Workshop | up to 12 | 4–6GB |
Single-core CPU speed matters more than memory, because big waves and Zed Time put load on one thread. Our hardware requirements guide explains why.
Game modes, WebAdmin and Workshop maps
The Killing Floor 2 dedicated server is free on SteamCMD and runs on Windows and Linux. Co-op Survival, Endless and Weekly Outbreak take up to six players, while Versus Survival puts up to six humans against six player-controlled Zeds.
WebAdmin, a browser control panel built into the server, lets you change maps, difficulty and game length while the server runs. Workshop maps are added by their Workshop IDs in the server’s engine config, and most hosts give you a panel field or a one-click installer for them.
