Best Romestead Server Hosting UK (Nov 2026)

Romestead’s dedicated server has a clear sizing rule: a Large world needs 8GB of RAM just to generate. That single fact decides which plans are worth paying for. We compared 22 hosts that sell a Romestead server today on RAM, locations near the UK, backups, refunds and regular monthly price, and removed hosts that no longer sell it.

Quick verdict: Indifferent Broccoli is our #1, with uncapped RAM and a two-day free trial from £4.50/mo ($5.99). Host Havoc gives you London and 8GB from £7.52/mo ($10.00), and DatHost puts 16GB of DDR5 in London for £12.50/mo ($16.63).

Methodology

How we compared Romestead server hosts

We compared each host’s live Romestead product on what decides whether your settlement runs well: enough RAM for the world size you want, CPU speed for the simulation, a UK or nearby European location, backups for world saves, refund terms and the regular price. Prices come from each host’s public plan page, converted at £1 = $1.33. Our full process is on how we compare.

Refund / trial7-day refund

Indifferent Broccoli prices Romestead by player count rather than memory, and every tier comes with uncapped RAM under a fair-use policy. The 1-player plan is £4.50/mo ($5.99) a month, 2 players £5.26/mo ($6.99), 4 players £7.51/mo ($9.99), 8 players £12.02/mo ($15.99) and the range runs up to 32 players for £18.79/mo ($24.99).

That model suits Romestead well, because a Large world needs 8GB just to generate and you never have to guess the right memory tier. You get a two-day free trial without a card, full file access and a seven-day refund. Its nearest locations are in mainland Europe rather than London.

Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full Indifferent Broccoli review.

Pros
  • No RAM tier to outgrow
  • 2-day free trial
  • Up to 32 players
Cons
  • No London location shown

Host Havoc’s Romestead servers start at £7.52/mo ($10.00) a month before billing-term discounts and add-ons, and the entry configuration starts at 8GB, enough to generate a Large world without upgrading first.

Host Havoc runs on hardware it owns, has London among its locations and answers support tickets in under ten minutes on average, which matters when an update leaves your settlement offline on a weeknight.

Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full Host Havoc review.

  • London location

DatHost sells one Romestead server with 16GB of DDR5 and 60GB of NVMe for €14.90 a month, which is £12.50/mo ($16.63) on its monthly rate. Six-month and yearly billing bring the price down, but the monthly figure is what we compare.

Sixteen gigabytes is twice what a Large world needs to generate, so you never hit a memory wall as the city grows. London is one of its locations, you can cancel at any time and there is a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Support, billing and the control panel are covered in our full DatHost review.

Pros

How much RAM does a Romestead server need?

The dedicated server guide is specific: generating a Large world needs 8GB of RAM. Smaller worlds run on less, so the right plan depends on the map you choose when you create the world:

Small4GB2–4 players, short sessions
Medium6GBA regular group of four to six

Do not confuse this with the Steam client requirement. Steam lists 8GB of system memory as the minimum for playing the game, which is a different thing from the server’s needs. Our hardware requirements guide explains CPU and storage too.

Performance

CPU speed and the SleepThresholdMs setting

The Romestead server has a SleepThresholdMs setting that controls how long the server idles between simulation steps. Lower values make the simulation tighter but use more CPU, so a fast, uncontended core matters more than extra memory once you have enough RAM.

Hosts that publish their CPUs, such as Kinetic Hosting, Wabbanode, Spill Hosting and PingPerfect, run Ryzen 9 or 5GHz-class hardware. If your group notices stutter during night waves, raise the plan’s CPU tier before adding memory.

Latest update

What the Autumn Update changed for servers

Autumn Update 0.26.1 arrived on 1 September 2026 as the first large roadmap update, adding more than 20 unique dungeons and over 70 challenge rooms. Existing worlds do not gain the newly generated dungeons, so to see them you need a fresh world. Keep your old save as a backup instead of overwriting it.

The same update made the network code more stable when connections drop, added a network quality indicator and improved performance on CPUs with few cores. Hotfix 0.26.2_4 followed on 6 October. Hosts with multiple save slots or downloadable backups, such as GTX Gaming, AleForge and PingPerfect, make it easy to run an old and a new world side by side.

Self-hosting

Self-hosting vs renting a Romestead server

You can run the Romestead dedicated server on your own PC, but it has to stay on whenever your group wants to play, and a Large world needs 8GB free on top of whatever else the machine is doing.

Buying guide

Which Romestead host should you choose?

Final verdict

For most UK groups, Indifferent Broccoli is the best Romestead server host in 2026, because uncapped RAM removes the 8GB question entirely. Pick Host Havoc if you want London, or DatHost for 16GB of DDR5. Hosting another survival game? See our Core Keeper server hosting and HumanitZ server hosting guides.

FAQ

Romestead server hosting FAQ

What is the best Romestead server host in the UK?

Indifferent Broccoli is our #1, with uncapped RAM, a two-day free trial and plans up to 32 players. Our Indifferent Broccoli review covers it in depth.

How much RAM does a Romestead server need?

A Large world needs 8GB to generate. Small and Medium worlds run on 4–6GB.

Is the 8GB Steam requirement the same as the server requirement?

No. Steam lists 8GB as the minimum memory for playing the game. The server’s own guide separately requires 8GB to generate a Large world.

Do I need a new world after the Autumn Update?

Only if you want the new generated dungeons. Existing worlds keep working but do not gain them, so back up your old save and start a fresh world alongside it.

Which Romestead hosts have UK servers?

15 of the 22 hosts here show a London or UK location, including Host Havoc, DatHost and GTX Gaming.

What is the cheapest Romestead server hosting?

ZAP-Hosting starts at £2.44/mo ($3.25) on its smallest setup. For a full 8GB, Kinetic Hosting costs £6.01/mo ($7.99) and Spill Hosting £6.02/mo ($8.00). See our cheap game server hosting guide.

Can I try a Romestead server for free?

Indifferent Broccoli has a two-day free trial without a card, and Nodecraft a 24-hour trial. DatHost has a 14-day money-back guarantee.

How many players can join a Romestead server?

The dedicated server’s MaxPlayers setting defaults to eight. Some hosts sell bigger player tiers, but plan the RAM and CPU for the group you actually have.

Which port does a Romestead server use?

The default dedicated-server port is UDP 8050. Hosts open it for you; on your own PC you need to forward it.

What does SleepThresholdMs do?

It sets how long the server idles between simulation steps. Lower values tighten the simulation but use more CPU.

Can I move my Romestead world to a hosted server?

Yes. Upload the save folder through the host’s file manager or FTP. GTX Gaming will help you move a world from your PC or another host.
