“Partisan” and the road to Arma 4
Bohemia Interactive shipped Update 1.7 “Partisan” at the end of May 2026, adding a third playable faction to Conflict mode: the FIA, a guerrilla force caught between the US and Soviet sides with genuinely different asymmetric mechanics rather than simply functioning as a reskinned third team.
Update 1.8 followed on 13 August 2026. The headline change is the first version of a Far Hide system, so players lying in grass at long range no longer stick out once distant vegetation stops rendering, and grass and camo nets now block AI vision too. Specialist roles such as medics, logistics, vehicle crews and engineers also do their jobs faster. Arma Reforger also arrived on the Microsoft Store with Xbox Play Anywhere, so one purchase covers Xbox and Windows PC.
For server owners, the 1.8.0.13 patch on 3 September fixed a crash when vanilla scripted commands were run on a modded server via RCON and added better server logging. Make sure your host has your server on the current 1.8 build before your group updates.
The update also brought another Enfusion Engine revision, with this pass focused heavily on performance and hardware resource management, particularly for console.
The bigger picture is Arma 4. Bohemia is shifting more development resources toward the next full Arma title, while Reforger has largely completed its role as the Enfusion testbed and bridge between Arma 3 and Arma 4.
