Enshrouded Dedicated Server Requirements: RAM, CPU and 16 Players
Enshrouded dedicated server requirements depend on player count, CPU capacity and memory, with Keen Games recommending 16 GB of system RAM for self-hosted machines and up to 16 player slots.
Official self-host recommendation: 6 cores / 12 threads at 3.2 GHz, 16 GB system RAM, 30 GB SSD.
Official self-host recommendation: 8 cores / 16 threads at 3.7 GHz, 16 GB system RAM, 30 GB SSD.
Official Enshrouded dedicated server specifications
Keen Games recommends a six-core, twelve-thread CPU at roughly 3.2 GHz with 16 GB of system memory for four to six active players. For a full sixteen-player world, its published recommendation rises to eight cores, sixteen threads and roughly 3.7 GHz, while system memory remains 16 GB. Both configurations call for an SSD with at least 30 GB free. These specifications refer to a machine running the server, including its operating system and background services.

How much RAM should you rent for Enshrouded?
Managed hosting plans do not map directly onto the 16 GB self-host recommendation because the provider runs the operating system and may specify a separate game-process allocation. Keen Games has previously described dedicated-process usage near 4.4 GB at idle and below roughly 6 GB in typical scenarios, but those observations predate the 1.0 optimisations. As a purchasing rule, compare the first clearly specified 6–8 GB plan before paying extra for 10–16 GB; consider an upgrade path if the server begins to hit memory limits. A vague “unlimited RAM” offer is less informative than a clearly defined service policy.
CPU performance and player slots
Enshrouded supports one to sixteen connected players through the slotCount setting. CPU contention becomes more important as additional players build, explore and fight in separate parts of the world. For a larger group, favour providers that describe CPU generation, thread allocation and resource-sharing policies instead of treating the number of RAM gigabytes as a complete performance score.
Storage, backups and network capacity
Keen Games recommends an SSD with 30 GB free for self-hosting, plus space for saved worlds. Its guidance also suggests approximately 2 Mbit/s upload capacity per active player, so a full group makes a stable connection important. With managed hosting, automatic saves do not replace independent backups; prioritise file access, backup retention and a restore function you can actually use.
Which hosting package fits your group?
For four players, shortlist hosts with a usable entry price and disclosed resources. For eight players, compare eight-slot pricing, CPU headroom and region availability, rather than ranking four-slot starter offers as equivalent. For sixteen players, confirm that the provider allows the full game limit, offers room to scale and makes backups easy before your world becomes complex. Our provider comparison lists package differences and relevant UK/EU locations.
How to compare four-, eight- and sixteen-player prices
A four-slot plan and a sixteen-slot plan are different products, even when their monthly prices look similar. Start with the actual size of your group, then compare the relevant tiers at the same billing period. Where a provider offers resource-based plans rather than slots, confirm the game still supports all sixteen player slots and that the control panel can change that limit. When RAM or CPU is omitted, weigh the uncertainty against cheaper transparent alternatives instead of treating hidden specifications as equivalent.
Does Enshrouded 1.0 need more server RAM?
Keen Games describes improvements to server-client communication memory use and CPU performance in its 1.0 changelog. However, an optimisation note is not the same as a measured minimum RAM requirement. The earlier dedicated-server guidance remains useful for planning, but it does not establish how every managed host allocates memory today. Begin with a plan that has a clear upgrade option, check utilisation in the provider dashboard and only pay for a larger tier if the workload or observed limits justify it.
London versus European server locations
For a group mostly based in the UK, a London node is a sensible first option because it often provides a shorter network route. Amsterdam, Frankfurt and other nearby cities can also deliver good latency, depending on each player’s ISP. Country labels alone cannot prove a specific ping value. Check which region is available for the Enshrouded product, not just the host’s general datacentre list, and consider where the majority of your players live.

Compare provider pricing, RAM allowances, UK/EU regions and backup tools before choosing a server. A low advertised entry price only helps if the package fits your group.
Best Enshrouded Server Hosting →Enshrouded server performance: CPU, RAM and large worlds
Enshrouded dedicated-server performance depends on active player count, CPU throughput, memory headroom and the workload generated by the world, so a low advertised RAM price is not sufficient evidence that a host will run smoothly.
The developer’s published self-hosting guidance recommends six CPU cores and twelve threads around 3.2 GHz for four to six active players, and eight cores and sixteen threads around 3.7 GHz for sixteen players, with 16 GB of whole-machine RAM. That 16 GB is not a published per-process requirement for a managed hosting container. Keen’s older FAQ observes approximately 4.4 GB at idle and below 6 GB process RAM; these figures predate 1.0 and must not be represented as fresh 1.0 measurements.
Why a fast CPU matters
CPU performance determines how quickly the server can process simultaneous player activity, entities and world simulation. However, a host quoting “Ryzen” without the model, available CPU share or contention policy gives you less useful information than a specific processor and a clear resource allocation. Compare the actual plan, not simply the newest CPU model displayed on the provider’s homepage.
How to diagnose lag and rubberbanding
Rubberbanding can stem from server processing delays, unstable routing or a struggling client. Start by checking whether all players lag simultaneously and whether the host console shows memory pressure or restarts. Then look at active player count, the affected world and the selected region. Test an unchanged backup world where possible rather than deleting saves or resetting the server.
After Enshrouded 1.0, do not assume a specific percentage improvement or new minimum RAM allocation without matched benchmarks. Choose enough headroom for your group, prioritise a host with dependable logs and backups, and compare practical allocations in our Enshrouded hosting comparison. If the problem is discovery or joining rather than low performance after connecting, follow our server not showing troubleshooting guide.
