How we researched Schedule I hosting
This comparison required a different process from a normal game-hosting roundup. There is no first-party dedicated-server product from TVGS to use as a common baseline, so a provider can advertise “Schedule I hosting” while offering a completely different server mod, an unfinished landing page, or a generic VPS that still leaves the hard setup to you.
We therefore verified the current S1DedicatedServers documentation first, then checked live provider product pages, plan configurators, setup guides, locations and independent reputation. Where the S1DS maintainer has tested a provider, we label that as external technical validation, not our own benchmark. Hardware, RAM, locations and refund windows are likewise provider-verified specifications unless explicitly described as our own observation.
What “hands-on” means in this comparison
We did not rent four new Schedule I servers and invent benchmark numbers. Our first-hand review work was the live buying and setup workflow: plan selection, client/server requirements, backup and file controls, update/recovery steps, location selection and how clearly each host exposes the community-server dependency. Where CPU, RAM, location or compatibility information comes from the provider or the S1DS maintainer rather than our own interaction, we label it as provider-verified or external validation.
We checked whether a host actually deploys S1DedicatedServers, the HyTeKGames stack or another usable community solution.
We looked for clear instructions on MelonLoader, branch selection, matching client packages and direct connection.
Backups, version matching, file access and rollback matter more here because Early Access patches can break community software.
Only after compatibility did we weigh London/EU routing, usable RAM, CPU/storage transparency, price and reputation.
Our main insight after researching the market
The biggest Schedule I hosting difference is not CPU brand. It is whether the provider treats the community server software as a maintained dependency. A cheap 4GB plan is worthless if an update leaves your clients on the wrong mod build, while a host that pins versions, keeps backups and explains the client install can save far more time than an extra gigabyte of RAM.

Kinetic is our best overall Schedule I host for a UK group because it gets the three awkward parts of this game right at the same time: the server stack, the location and the usable entry specification. Schedule I still has no official TVGS dedicated-server binary, so Kinetic installs the open-source S1DedicatedServers stack for you rather than pretending this is a normal one-click vanilla deployment. More importantly, the S1DS project currently lists Kinetic as a provider that has been tested with the project maintainer.
For UK players, that technical compatibility is backed by a London option and an 8GB performance plan at £5.89 ($7.99) per month. Kinetic publishes NVMe storage, up to Ryzen 9 9950X 5.7GHz hardware on performance nodes, five backup slots, full file access, scheduling and a seven-day refund. In practical terms, 8GB also gives much more breathing room than the 4GB bare-minimum configurations some competitors use as their headline price.
The compromise is that every player still has to install the matching client-side Schedule I server mod. Kinetic makes that process unusually clear in its own documentation, and MelonLoader is already handled on the server side. Because Schedule I is still in Early Access, that update workflow matters more to us than another generic promise of ‘high performance’.
What we tested ourselves: For this update we ran Kinetic through our live buying-and-setup audit: the Schedule I plan selector, 8GB configuration, London availability, MelonLoader/S1DS client requirements, backup slots, file access and scheduling controls. We then cross-checked the S1DS compatibility claim against the maintainer documentation.
What it told us: That process is what pushed Kinetic to #1. It removes more unknowns before checkout than the other monetised hosts here. The 8GB tier is already sensible, London is available, and the server stack has external maintainer validation. We did not run synthetic FPS or ping benchmarks, so Ryzen and NVMe remain provider-verified specs rather than our measurements.

Wabbanode

Wabbanode was the most useful provider we found outside the Schedule I data we already had. Its current product page is built specifically around the community server reality rather than generic VPS hosting: MelonLoader, DedicatedServerMod and MultiplayerPlus are all called out, and London is an active location alongside Germany, France and Finland.
The pricing model is also unusually flexible. Wabbanode exposes a value hardware option from £1.10 per GB ($1.49/GB) on AMD EPYC and a performance option from £2.21 per GB ($2.99/GB) on Ryzen 9 7950X-class hardware, although the exact total depends on the RAM and hardware combination selected. Its own Schedule I guidance positions 6GB as the sweet spot for around eight players and 8GB for larger modded groups.
We rank it below Kinetic because Kinetic has the stronger external S1DS validation in our retained shortlist. Even so, the combination of a real London node, transparent mod support, SFTP, backups and a seven-day refund makes it a much more serious Schedule I option than several larger brands that only have an SEO landing page.
What we tested ourselves: We worked through Wabbanode’s live configuration flow and compared its value/performance hardware paths, selectable RAM sizes, London location, DedicatedServerMod/MultiplayerPlus support, SFTP, backups and refund terms.
What it told us: The useful finding was that Wabbanode gives the buyer the most control over the final spec, but that flexibility also creates more setup decisions than Kinetic. London and per-GB scaling are genuine strengths. The lack of maintainer-tested S1DS status is why it stays second rather than letting the cheaper headline automatically win.

Shockbyte now has a real Schedule I product and current connection documentation, so it deserves to be in the comparison even though our older master only had a catalogue-level start price. The 4GB plan costs £8.47 ($11.49), the 6GB tier £12.53 ($16.99), and the 8GB tier £14.74 ($19.99).
Its documentation is clear about the extra client work: players need the alternate branch, MelonLoader and the matching client mod before they can add the server IP in-game. That clarity is important, because a host that hides the community-mod requirement until after checkout creates more support friction than it saves. Shockbyte also includes file access, backups, DDoS protection and global locations.
The reason it sits sixth is not a lack of features but the value and reputation balance. The 8GB package costs roughly two and a half times Kinetic’s 8GB plan, while Shockbyte’s current Trustpilot score is 3.8 from more than 10,000 reviews. That huge sample gives the score weight, and recent reviews still contain a meaningful minority of support and reliability complaints.
What we tested ourselves: We followed Shockbyte’s current Schedule I connection workflow from plan selection through the client requirements: alternate game branch, MelonLoader, matching client mod and direct connection. We also compared the 4GB, 6GB and 8GB tiers and checked the documented backup/file-access path.
What it told us: That exposed both sides of the product. Shockbyte explains the unusual client setup clearly, which should reduce support friction, but the 4GB headline tier is lean and moving to 8GB makes the package much more expensive than Kinetic. That price curve is the main reason it ranks third.

Survival Servers

Survival Servers is one of the clearest options if you want to think in player slots rather than RAM. Its current Schedule I page offers a three-day four-slot trial, then regular monthly pricing of £13.28 ($18) for 16 slots or £14.75 ($20) for 20. It uses the community DedicatedServerMod on the public Steam branch and explicitly documents the matching S1DS IL2CPP client flow.
The control panel includes file access, restarts, server settings, mod support and location switching. You can also choose between a standard SSD/DDR4 tier and a premium NVMe/DDR5, overclocked-CPU tier. For Europe the current list includes Germany and France, which is perfectly workable for UK groups even though London is absent.
The concern here is value at smaller sizes. If six or eight people are playing, a RAM-based Kinetic or Wabbanode plan is usually cheaper. Survival Servers becomes more interesting when you specifically want a packaged 16 to 20-player configuration and would rather pay for that capacity than reason about RAM yourself. Its current 4.6★ score from 930 Trustpilot reviews is also materially stronger than Shockbyte’s.
What we tested ourselves: We checked the live Schedule I order flow, the three-day trial, regular 16- and 20-slot pricing, the DedicatedServerMod/S1DS IL2CPP setup instructions, current European locations and the difference between standard SSD/DDR4 and premium NVMe/DDR5 hardware.
What it told us: That process showed why Survival Servers makes more sense for a larger group than a small one. The 16-20 player packages are easy to understand, but the same comparison showed weaker value for six or eight UK players, while Germany and France are the closest current European locations rather than London.

Schedule I still has no official dedicated server
Steam currently lists Schedule I as single-player and online co-op, not as a game with an official dedicated-server tool. The normal game uses a player-hosted Steam session and the base co-op flow is built around four players. A rented 24/7 server therefore works by adding community software that turns the game into a headless server.
That is not a reason to avoid hosting, but it changes the risk. After a major Early Access patch, the community server project may need an update before everyone can reconnect. Back up your world before upgrading, keep server and client packages aligned, and do not assume a provider advertising Schedule I today is running an official TVGS binary.
How the community Schedule I server stack works
Schedule I still has no official TVGS dedicated-server binary, so the hosts on this page rely on community server software. That makes version matching, client setup and recovery controls unusually important.
This open-source community stack supports persistent headless hosting, but server and client packages must stay version-matched after game updates. Kinetic is specifically identified in current S1DS documentation as a provider tested with the maintainer; Survival Servers documents its own DedicatedServerMod/S1DS IL2CPP flow.
How much RAM does a Schedule I server need?
S1DedicatedServers documentation records 4GB as a bare-minimum working host size, but the same example was effectively a zero-to-one-player server and already used roughly 3GB of memory with high CPU utilisation. That makes 4GB a proof that the stack can run, not our preferred production recommendation.

Do not use Steam’s 8GB minimum / 16GB recommended client requirements as direct server RAM requirements. They describe the full game client, including graphics, not a headless hosted instance.
Why your friends cannot always just paste an IP
With community dedicated servers, the player’s game has to understand the same networking layer as the server. On S1DS that means installing the matching client package and, depending on the build, the correct MelonLoader/game branch combination. Shockbyte’s current guide, for example, explicitly tells players to prepare the alternate branch, MelonLoader and the client mod before adding the server address.
The practical rule is simple: follow the host’s current guide, not a six-month-old YouTube video. The S1DS project supports both Mono and IL2CPP and its install flow has changed over time. Version mismatch is one of the easiest ways to turn a working server into an apparent connection failure.
Backups matter more than usual while Schedule I is in Early Access
TVGS says Schedule I will continue receiving substantial Early Access content updates and currently targets leaving Early Access in Q4 2027. That is good for the game, but every upstream change can temporarily affect a community server mod. We therefore rank providers with scheduled backups, file access and a clear version-management process above hosts that only advertise instant setup.
Before an update, create a downloadable backup of the save and current mod configuration. Then update the server framework and clients together. If the new build is unstable, a provider with accessible backups and version control gives you a realistic recovery path instead of leaving your entire Hyland Point operation tied to the latest broken files.
Can you self-host Schedule I for free?
Yes. S1DedicatedServers is open-source and can be installed on your own Windows machine. Linux hosting normally uses Wine/Proton or the project’s Docker workflow. You need a Schedule I installation, the compatible MelonLoader/server package, the correct Steam App ID configuration and open game/query ports. Current S1DS documentation uses UDP/TCP game traffic around port 38465 and Steam query UDP 27016, although managed hosts can assign different ports.
For two or three friends who always play at the same time, the normal Steam lobby is still the simplest and cheapest answer. Renting becomes useful when the save needs to be online without one person’s PC, when the group wants more than the vanilla player flow, or when you would rather have automated backups and remote recovery than maintain the community server stack yourself.
